I’m upset this is a half baked beta product

MPC Live - Grid Edit UX Bugs & Features

1 - Why doesn't the grid remember the place you were scrolled to previously? I'm constantly having to re-enter the grid and find my notes.

2 - Why can't I select a bunch of notes, press the COPY button, and move the copied notes around?

3 - Why can't I select a bunch of notes, press the ERASE button, and remove them? Why do I have to go to a completely separate screen and select them in an unintuitive fashion?

4 - Why can't I edit anything but velocity on the grid? What about other parameters? Pitch, pan, filter cutoff, etc?

5 - (More of a bonus) Why don't we have note edit functions? Select a range then transpose, reverse, stretch, etc.

  • Hey subimage,

    Thanks for posting!

The MPC will recall where you are in the sequence until you change sequences, then it will revert to the first bar.

A copy/erase function for MIDI events in the sequencer sounds like a useful idea - I have submitted this via the feedback module in the MPC software and I would advise that you do the same too! Additional automation functions below the grid have also been requested prior to this - I think the addition of more functions like pitch, pan, etc. would be useful - be sure to include this in a feature request in the software as well!

A range of notes can be transposed if you select them in the grid (you can drag the selection tool to select a range of notes), select transpose at the bottom of the display and use the Data Dial to move the notes in the grid. The other functions such as Nudge, Note Start/End and velocity can also be manipulated in this fashion. If you are interested in other functions, you can - and should! - include these with a feature request as I recommended above. The information you send with the MPC software's feedback module goes directly to the Akai team!

Thank you for your feedback and let me know if you have any questions!
