MPC One Air FX

These effects are excellent and I think the UI is really cool!

The sound is great but having a cool UI really helps with the “fun level”, especially on a stand-alone unit.

I give Akai a lot of credit for implementing these effects. The stock Akai effects already sounded great in my opinion.

It’s awesome to have both options as standard.

  • The AirFX come from Air, not Akai. InMusic owns em both so thats probably why we got em. The Akai ones are pretty good but the Air ones rock.

Its the stock plugin pack thats come with Pro Tools for ages now.
You get the VST/AU versions for free with your MPC too so you can use em with your DAW. Its helping me ditch Logic Pro too. All these years Ive never bought a basic set of audio tools like eq's or vanilla comps or anything because they all came with Logic heh. Didn't realize I had the Air bundle until a couple days ago, so now I got some decent stuff to work with in Reaper!

  • Thanks Monotremata.

I know the FX are made by Air, I just really like the implementation! I think Akai deserves some credit for seeing the benefit of having them inside an MPC. I’ve been using the MPC software since 1.0 and before that, the legacy hardware MPCs, so seeing these types of effects in a standalone unit is pretty amazing. Their attention to detail in the UI and the sound is excellent.

I was aware that the Air FX came with Protools but I’ve never used them in a DAW. I’ve been using Logic and Live for years. I might consider trying them out.

    Thanks for the insight!
