I’m sad and angry at the same time!!

MPC X won't load up past "MPC" Start-up screen and 16 pads color cycle

4/2/18

Yesterday I tried to start my MPC X (purchased in Dec 2017) and it wouldn't load. For some reason the MPC X gets stuck on the intro "MPC" screen. It's the "MPC" screen that appears while the MPC pads display the multi-colors. After the pads color cycle the MPC just stays on that screen and does change. None of the MPC lights come on at all either, just the "MPC" displayed on the touch screen. I've let it load for as long as 10 mins and nothing. I try to turn the MPC off and it won't even power down. I end up having to literally pull the plug on the MPC to get it to turn off.

Anyone else experience this?

PLEASE ADVISE!!!!!

  • What up DAIGORO MOGAMI

Sorry to hear you experienced the same problem. I ended up having to reach out to AKAI customer service. Alot of people have said that AKAI customer service is abosolutely terrible but I didn't have any problem what so ever. It was quick and painless and I was taken care of as ong time AKAI customer should be. A+ to AKAI customer care with me on this one.

Because of the factory warranty, I was instructed to send the MPC X in to AKAI so the unit could be replaced. The only thing is that I had to send it to a facility in Reno, NV which took about 10 days in shipping time from where I am on the east coast. At any rate I assume everything was taken care of as a box from Akai is currently on its way to me as I type this. Now there is one HUGE drawback to the issue we both experienced. I hope you didn't save any of your created tracks to the MPC's internal hard drive. Cause if you did then you probably already have come to the conclusion that those track are gone. I personally had started two bangers and those are gone forever. Of course I can recreate them but I know they won't sound the same so from now on after I start up the replacement unit, I will be saving everything to an external drive. If this problem ever happens again, I'll be sure not to be caught slippin. My advice to you is call them 1st thing tomorrow Monday morning as soon as customer service phones go active. I knew I wasn't the only one this problem happened to.

God Speed playboy. Let me know how it goes for you.

    PEACE!!!

  • What up Man? Hey check my reply above. in addition, if you get is fixed make sure you properly eject all your external drives. I have a feeling not removing your drive properly contributes to the problem.

    God Speed with the problem.

    PEACE!!!
