MPC Ren ASIO driver not available in preferences - PC installation

Been battling installation for hours now. I have the software and firmware up to date (v2.9.24 yeah?), and the Ren seems to be talking to the software, but i get no sound. In preferences i try to select ASIO>MPC Renaissance ASIO driver, but get the 'Device didn't start correctly' message.

Running Windows 7 64-bit - made sure i used compatible updates with that etc
WAS running an M-Audio Firewire Audiophile external soundcard, which i unplugged - that's correct yes? I have no idea why the PC won't recognise the Ren drivers now..

Any help much appreciated. Maaaaan alive this is frustrating.
