MPD226 to External Synth?

Hello guys,

I was trying to connect my MPD 226 to Moog Mother 32 to send midi notes.

I use standard midi cable with adapter which I have it on the MPD226 box from MPD226 MIDI Out to Mother 32 MIDI In.

But I couldn't take any sound or any midi signal.

Yes I can do what I want with usb-midi cable and a DAW. But I want to connect directly two hardwares for live performance without a computer.

So Is there any way to do it?

    Thanks for posting!

It is possible to use the MPD226 in standalone with an external sound module. To do this, select preset 1 Generic from the Preset menu. Connect your MIDI cable from the MPD's MIDI Out port to the MIDI In port of your Moog. Make sure that you are using an external power supply or powering the MPD from a USB charger adapter that is not connected to your computer.

If you're still having trouble, we can verify whether your MPD226 is sending MIDI data via the DIN port with MIDI monitoring software. A MIDI monitor will show you all the incoming data from any MIDI controllers or MIDI interfaces that you have connected to your computer.

For testing MIDI devices on PC:
    Download MIDI-OX

This video will get you set up quickly for MIDI input monitoring in MIDI-OX:
    Monitoring MIDI Input with MIDI-OX

For testing MIDI devices on Mac:
    Download snoize: MIDI Monitor

Select your MIDI interface as a MIDI input source in the monitor and send some data with the MPD. If you see data appear in the input monitor window, the controller is sending MIDI data.

If the MPD is not sending MIDI data to the monitor, try switching out the MIDI cable and adapter.

If you try the steps listed above and you are still unable to send MIDI data with the controller, your product may need to be serviced. Warranty and non-warranty claims are not handled here on the forum, but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the Akai Pro Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu.

    or

    • For quicker support, call your nearest Support Office or International Distributor.
