I’m Frustrated

MPK249 issue in Studio One 3 (No Sound)

I am using an MPK249 in Studio One 3 Artist. It has been setup using the guide given on the Akai website. When I use the MPK to control the Impact plugin, I can hear the different drum samples when pressing the pads and keys. When I'm using any other plugins, I get no sound at all. I can see the keys being pressed and faders/knobs being moved on the virtual keyboard but no sounds or notes being transmitted to Studio One. My MPK249 works great in Ableton Live 9 and FL Studio 12. So this problem is really confusing to me. Any help offered would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi Wes,

    Thanks for posting.

You should contact the Presonus support team for this one. The MPK249 is a MIDI controller, so if it works for Impact and other DAWs then we know it's doing its job correctly.

I'm no mega expert, but I'm pretty familiar with Studio One. I can't think of any reason why one virtual instrument (and all other DAWs) would work but others would not. I may recall one case where there were some limitations with the Free or Artist editions, but I'm not sure.

As long as you've added a "New Keyboard" external device in the Studio One preferences and set the input to the first MPK249 USB port available (may be labeled Port A or Port 1), that's all you should need for basic keyboard/pad playback.

  • Hi Dan R,

My MPK249 is working perfectly now. For some reason it wouldn't work with an old project that I was trying to finish. Once I opened a new project it started working all of my plugins.
    Thanks a lot!
