MPX8 Buzzing since software update

I have a problem with my mpx8. I've been playing around with it for months now and I absolutely loved it.

Than I read about the software update and so I downloaded it from the official site, followed the instructions carefully and the procedure seemed to be going just fine as described.

But ever since the moment it got updated it started producing a buzzing and hissing noise in the background I can't get rid of which seems to be affected by the lights changing color. It can clearly be heard through both outputs and the headphone output. I'm positive that it has something to do with the update as it never did so before.

Is there any way to downgrade back to its original software?

On a side note, after googling a bit I found people having the same problem but nobody pointed out the update as a possible cause.

  • Hey Bobby,

Sorry you're having trouble with the MPX8! There is no option to revert to a previous version. I have not encountered an inquiry reporting that symptom after updating the software specifically. It does sound like your product may need to be serviced. Warranty and non-warranty claims are not handled here on the forum, but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the Akai Pro Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu.

    or

    • For quicker support, call your nearest Support Office or International Distributor.

Make sure to reference or link this thread to help out the support team.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • Light, like sound, is a wave of energy that peaks and troughs at a certain frequency.

The energy expressed as light can also be expressed as audible notes.

For instance, F above middle C is about 4 mhz

So in some way, the power directed to your units LEDS is getting into the audio path,

If it were physical, I would say just give the unit a good solid smack, and it may right its self, but seeing as how this came from a software update, I don't know what to tell you.

If you really like that thing, then buy a new one, they are cheap and remember, those are disposable units, they have TONS of problems, so if you get one don't expect it to last for very long.

  • I’m confused
i recently got the akai mpx8 as a gift. there's this buzzing noise overpowering the sample that i'm sure is not supposed to be there. So i went and figured that it may need a firmware update since it's newly bought, but received a "No File" when i followed the update instructions. This means that the device is updated after reading somewhere. But the buzzing noise is not going away. How do i fix the buzzing noise?
