MPX8 Samples Playing When They Shouldn't Be

My AKAI MPX8 is experiencing an issue with what I can only describe as "sample bleed." To explain the issue, I have 3 custom kits which use samples rooted in the external SD card. Kit 1 uses 5 unique sounds, kit 2 uses 1 long and unique sound, and kit 3 uses 5 unique sounds. Again, all of these sounds are rooted in the SD card main directory and are in the correct file format (16 bit, 44,100 sample rate, mono, wav files) and I even used the MPX File Conversion Utility to make sure the sounds are all in the proper format.

When booting up the MPX8 and loading kit 1, everything plays fine. When I load up kit 2, the long sample plays without issue. However, when I load up kit 3 and trigger the samples, sounds from kit 1 and kit 2 end up playing in very loud and random snippets when kit 3's samples are almost finished playing. I have checked the source audio samples and they do not seem to be the issue since the endings finish in silence. It's almost like the MPX8 is getting confused and playing audio it shouldn't from the previous 2 kits.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this an issue with the hardware/software of my MPX8?

    Thanks for posting!

    Sorry you're having some trouble with that! I would recommend try some troubleshooting first. Try formatting your SD card and adding the samples to it again then testing. I would also try using a different SD card to see if you can reproduce the same behavior.

    If you do try that and you're still having some trouble, this could be relative to the hardware itself. Warranty and non-warranty claims are not handled here on the forum, but I can point you in the right direction! Here are a couple of options that you could choose from:

    • Submit a Warranty or Service inquiry with our Technical Support team by logging onto the Akai Pro Support Page. Select Warranty or Service Inquiry from the drop down menu.
