Multiple USB MIDI gear on a HUB to MPC Live standalone

Hello Everyone! Do any of you have experience with multiple MIDI gears connected to USB by a hub connected to standalone MPC? I just tried out with one gear connected to a hub and the hub connected to MPC - it works like a charm. I guess it will work with multiple gears, but I can't try it out by now.

  • Hey Brian,

    Thanks for posting!

It sounds like you want to connect a few MIDI controllers to a hub and then connect the hub to a USB port on the MPC? Interesting. I have not tested this out here on my end so I cannot comment whether or not this will work.

Is anyone in the community connecting a USB hub with a few MIDI controllers to their MPC? Let us know how that's working out!

  • Hello Nick,

I've been tested this. And yes, it works. It's better if empty hub remaining connected to the gear and midi controllers connecting after the boot sequence ends. But definitely can see connected gears. Maybe it looks like if it was one gear, for example if both controller has a CC10 on channel 2 setting, the MPC will see it as the same command appearing on the input and it couldn't separate them to two different controllers. But hey, there is 16 channel and 128 CC on each, means 2048 controller slot spreaded for any gear you can connect to the hub! More than enough. :)
