Ideas for MPC 2.0

This is what I think the MPC-2.0 software upgrade needs to make the Ren more effective...

1) Tempo/Tempo Change data to be exported via track export mode (AIFF and WAV)

2) More connectability with Tascam Portastudio hardware and similar (MIDI, software, similar)

3) More compatibility with legacy Akai Sample formats (MPC60.snd) (MPC3000.snd)(S-900/S-950 files)(S-1000)(S-3000)(MPC2000.snd)(Teledisk .tdo)

4) True (A)ttack (D)elay (S)ustain and (R)elease control

5) Drum Program & Keygroup Program layout with Multi-programs (this is in the Akai S-2000's and newer) (also in the MPC-4000 and MPC-5000)

Though there maybe lots of VST programs, the multi-sampled instruments I made for myself in my S-2000 and my MPC-4000 had better sounding samples and much more control over the pitch, tambre, velocity, nuance, and much more

    Hi Dante,

    Thanks for posting!

    1) WAV files wouldn't have additional information attached to them like tempo. These are usually more complicated files like Rex files (Rx2). So are you looking for Rex file support or something similar? It could make it easier to match or stretch a sample to your beat.

    2) What are you trying to do with a Portastudio exactly? It seems like this would be more dependent on how you utilize the hardware attached to it than the software itself.

The rest I'll pass along to our team! :)

  • Okay. Aiffs can have information attached to them, too.

It has been difficult to connect to a portastudio to be able to start recording the Ren when it is connected via MIDI. It seems that MIDI sychonization is more of a challenge since the Ren is more so software based despite being a controller. Is it similar to when I use a 2488neo to be the master and my MPC-4000 to be a slave? Once I set the 2488neo to reord, I hit play and rcord, but have the tempo map setup and ready to make the 4000 playback the song via MIDI and record the audio outs into the inputs of the 2488neo. Please kindly advise.

Also, bring back the ADSR with keygroups. VST is okay, but it would be better if I coud just import my Akai programs (.akp) and pick up right where I left off as well as start new music. Thanks again.

    Hi Dante,

I'm not familiar with that Tascam unit, but MPC can send and receive MIDI clock, MTC and MMC commands. Go to your Preferences > Sync tab and you'll see all of the options to set this up. To receive any MIDI clock/MTC data, make sure the MIDI port it's coming in on is activated in the MIDI Tab in your preferences.

    I hope this helps!
