new force owner

but longtime live owner and many years an mpc owner with most of them in the collection right now... honestly ive not been motivated to use my live ever since it was released and instead stuck with my 2500 with jjos2xl which i love. i picked up a force in a trade recently and i gotta say this thing sounds pretty swell! theres some strange omissions and navigation is sort of like a maze, but all in all it compliments the traditional mpc paradigm pretty well.

i really wish the lfo in tube synth and all other lfos would reset their phase at note on. it might be cool if you could also control the phase. its pretty useless the way it is now, no offense but i have to resample my synth tones to use the lfo the way i should be able to without resampling... though at least i can resample!

i can definitely appreciate all the opportunities to add distortion or saturation to the sound. this is definitely a big staple of modern sound design. but i do wish there was at least an fm oscillator type.

i have more crit but i bet akai doesnt read this stuff. im generally impressed and im liking it a lot. the more i get to know it the more i like it.

the build quality is quite nice and the way its lit up is also nice. please make the crossfader work for controller values too! make it morph

i wish there was a separate midi buss over usb or several even!

i do like the knobs with a display each! makes things easy.

more to come!

  • thanks ive made a ton of submissions using that form.

im alarmed at some of the stuff people are saying about this thing. i traded it for something worth about $800 and was surprised at how low i got it. i can see one or 2 issues i might be on the bandwagon with like midi file import. that needs to be native otherwise it comes off as backwards to need an additional software and computer.

the reason people want to have midi input per track is that they will often develop their groove using years of specialized midi tools and such or maybe their favorite sequencer and then just record to a midi clip without needing to conform to the force but still benefit from its performance capability which is considerable. this opens up gear and is frustrating when it doesnt work well. akai should consider adding this to the utility of this beautiful vehicle because i think it deserves it. make this a utility closet for music the way your customers seem to want or even by emulating the older mpc workflow and you win. miss the mark and i think people will go elsewhere. they already have jjosxl. thats a hard one to compete with honestly. but hold your own and youll have brand loyalty forever.

my local breakfast joint was the best for miles around and then it was sold to a guy who ruined it but then he started to try and now its pretty close to the quality of the previous owner and business is good, they bought the space next door and knocked down the wall. just sayin brah.

be the best akai you can be. dont cheap out your customers, they hate it. emulate the older mpcs closer, add utility, and i think your company has it made. you can trust us with more sophistication than youre giving us now. mpc one seems to be a step in the right direction however. kudos
