Omnisphere 3rd party Expansion Patches In VIP Software

Is there a way to import the 3rd party Expansion Patches(ILIO, Audiority, etc..) for Omnisphere Into VIP for browsing?

It scans it gives the factory patches of 4028, But it does not recognize any of my 3rd party patches or User patches in the VIP software...

Thank You

  • Hello,

Thanks for the post. Hope you're enjoying the Advance and VIP!

Take a look at this video:

    http://www.akaipro.com/kb/article/1800

It covers a couple different ways to import new presets, whether it be your own presets or any "Expansion" libraries which do not already have a Plugin Map (like those Omnisphere expansions you mentioned).
I'm not 100% familiar with those particular Omnisphere expansions. Just keep in mind that some plugins do not always provide the right preset information when VIP "asks for it". VIP looks for a standard VST preset formatting that the majority of plugins will follow, but there may be the occasional exception. I think Omnisphere should be good, though.

You'll probably want to take a look at the other videos for Advance too, as there are quite a few now! :)

  • Hello Dan,

Still no luck with getting the expansions to show up.. But, in the process of trying a few things over the last couple days to make it work.. I notice that in the "Patch Browser" all of my expansion/user patches do show up as expected in the Directory.

Now, with the "Multi Browser" the Expansion and User Patches WILL NOT show up. But "VIP Library" does show up in the Directory.

The other thing i notice, was when using VIP and having the GUI of omnisphere open, it will scroll thru patches (4028 scanned) via the "Patch Browser". But when u load up a patch from one of the expansions in the "Patch Browser", VIP will not Acknowledge that Patch even with the Auto Import selected..

The majority, if not all of these patches are tagged, and are located in the STEAM folder along side the factory patches..

Does it possibly have something to do with the 2 different Browsers?

  • Hi,

In follow up of the topic above I would like to know how to add 3d party libraries and as well the as well as the Bob Moog tribute library from Spectrasonics? In addition to this I have to know a quick/clever way to add my own presets (2000+) as created in Omnisphere 2. My own presets are organized by folder structure. Are the sub folders recognized as well in VP this same way?

Please help and thanks in advance!

    Cheers,
    Pat

  • I just followed the instructions in the video for the individual import method. The auto method (right click) didn't work for me. But, I successfully imported 165 add-on Omnisphere patches that I purchased from 3rd party folks.

It's a long process but it worked. Open the Omni window within VIP. Then select a patch and then click the import button within VIP. That placed the patch at the very end on the last page of patches in Omni. It also did not import the names for any of them but when you click on them, they did select the proper patch within Omni.

Next I created additional folders in the 'expansion' window so that within 'Omnisphere' the two expansion bundles I purchased are in groups just like the Spotlight-EDM and Atmosphere libraries, etc. Then highlighted the patches for each bundle and drag/dropped them into the folders I created.

The last thing to do is to rename each of them to match the name of the patch within Omni. This is a long frustrating thing to do, but you just left click the patch in VIP, then look at the corresponding name within Omni, then right click and rename the file in VIP.

This process worked for me for all 165. It's no fun, that's for sure! But it worked. It would be a breeze if the import feature retained the name info etc. It really sucks to have to rename them all. If you don't rename them, then they are ALL named 'default Omnisphere.' But they do map to the correct patch when you select them in VIP.

The import feature works but it does not appear to copy over some of the info that still requires timely editing after importing.

    Hope this helps.

  • I had also no success with importing 3rd party patches from Omnisphere to VIP using auto tag. Its very frustrating. The workflow reported by Josh_B is a "no go" for users with many 3rd party expansions. Omnisphere is an important plugin and it is very disappointing that VIP does not support user patches as advertised.

  • Going to pile on here. There seem to be certain plugins that VIP can't do auto imports for.

On my list so far is Omnisphere, LuSH-101 and Spire. Frustrating given how many patches that Omnisphere has, not to mention user libraries I've bought.

Any assistance here would be a help.

  • It’s a limitation of what those VSTs expose to the host (not just VIP). Spire, for example, reports every preset name as “Default”.
