Ping-pong delay with sync for the MPC Live/X

I would love a ping-pong delay with sync for the MPC Live/X. Would that be possible to implement?

  • Hi, there are ways to create Ping-Pong-style delays, which sync to the projects BPM.
It's nothing out of the box, but it can be done and actually sound good. Two internal sync delay effects, at least in the BPM Software, are included with the MPC. It's the "Analog Delay (sync)" and the "Mono Delay (sync)". To make them move in space
you have to record the panning by hand via the automation option. Seems strange,
but works ..and clearly can't be all there is for the future. We have mentioned effect presets before, which would come in handy too. The "Mono Delay (sync)" has a nice
damping option (marked X), which does stand out. If you check the MPC "Ping Pong Delay" effect, you see it does not sync. To sync it by hand, you have to do the math
and entry the time via the knobs. For a track of 120 BPM, a delay-time of 250 and
multiples do sync. In the PingPong effect window (of the MPC software) you have two entries for numbers (Pic marked A+B). A quick research on the internet for delay
times for various track speeds will result in many good examples. The sounding
result of the delays-by-hand played in a track is good, even if the pan-automation
is really trickery stuff, which takes time to set up. If only the PingPong delay would
be sync-able and include presets for several times (1/2.-1/2-1/4.-1/4-18.-1/8..). To
enter an exact number in the fields A+B, you have to dial the knob. Clicking in the
entry fields itself to enter a number by hand does not work (in MPC Software 2.x).

  • Hey everybody,

    Thanks for posting!

If you would like to submit a request for a synchronization option for the Delay Ping Pong insert effect, be sure to do so with the MPC 2.x Software's built-in feedback module. The feedback module is represented by a smiley icon at the lower right side of the software next to the browser icons. This information goes directly to the Akai team for consideration!
