Problems With The iMPC Pro "Workflow"

I recently updated my iPad to a 64GB iPad Air 2 and was REALLY excited about getting down to business with my new iPad and the iMPC "Pro" app so i bang out a few beats and hit the "export song" menu and plug my iPad in to my computer. I looked for a 'export" of the song and all I could find was ONE .wav file (not even named the title of the track) so I see a folder and I said "maybe the tracks are in here" (no such luck) just some random folders and a few sounds....

So AKAI what's up? how could you review this app, without THOSE kind of questions being a part of the conversation? If I wanted to export a song from iMPC "Pro" I would have to "solo" each instrument from each kit and then export each separately. copy and paste renaming each instrument?

Not even a track export feature?

  • Hello,

Thanks for posting and for your feedback!

The iMPC Pro app will export the stereo mixdown as you have seen.

However, I'll be happy to submit a feature request for a "per track" type of export you're looking for!

Also, iMPC Pro v1.3 was just released! Here is a listing of videos from Retronyms that cover the latest features added

    Thanks again!

  • urbanimagesnetwork, you would have to "downgrade" to the original iMPC to get that feature. It wasn't included in iMPC Pro originally and is also not a part of the v1.3 update that took nearly a year to be released.

  • Also, the long awaited update appears to have some major issues. The Audiobus forum is in an uproar because of problems with the only major feature, time stretch and lack of other fixes:

"@kobamoto said: thanks parallaxobject so it's not working like this?

    https://youtube.com/devicesupport
As far as I can tell, parallax is correct. If you slice a looped beat and slow down a lot, it becomes evident that the beat has extra 'space' in the loop slice is filled by looping the last x milliseconds of the loop, this looping is then faded out or decayed to the slice end. If you have a snare which decays over the slice point, this means it ends in a godawful mini loop, with auto fade. At faster tempos it can sound like a reverse, and if fast enough, it's not noticeable.

I was looking forward to this function and don't like to go round slating retronyms too much, but really..... All they needed to do was add a function that has been around a long time - time stretching. The dev who created this was working with some seriously heavy constraints or has been unnecessarily and appallingly creative.

I think this video just doesn't slow the beat to the point where it's evident..."
