I’m disappointed

Renaissance software working without hardware

This makes no sense. Why if the software is unlocked already can't we use just the Mpc software to continue to work when you don't have your Renaissance?

Maybe someone just wants to listen to there stuff or just have their laptop on a plane to do some step sequencing or editing while on the go. Especially if your done with our project an the MPC software was used as a plugin. Makes no sense we can't use just the software without the hardware.
These are just a few examples of not needing the hardware.
Please fix this asap

I also hope that we don't have to wait till 2.0, cause this 1.3 update wait was kind of a stretch and almost killed me until I heard and seen the video from sounds and gear at the Akai going over the 1.3 update releases notes and demonstration. Plug-in duplication mess is finally fixed with a slew of other features with a target release date of Feb 15...

The software is tailored to the controllers, so on the topic of this post the software probably would not be sold stand alone.

It better NOT sold as a stand alone or we payed $1200 for a program that can be used by any controller!

Akai is full of crap. I will say this again. Why is Akai acting like Protools before they allowed any hardware to work with their app? it's months and still can't work on the go. Cant listen to anything done make changes with just a laptop. Its 2013. Really? Akai is acting like they a government with keep it under wraps. it will be (k) like everything gets (k). Yes even Protools got (k) to use on any hardware before avid opened up.

    • @ simonln Watch your mouth when you talk to me I am no dick, and yeah its a request, but I spoke my opinion and your boyfriend you-lee seems to be ranting at all of those who have a different opinion, at the end of the day Don't Bash the brand, if you are unsatisfied then return it or don't buy it from the gate. To say Akai is full of crap I believe wasn't fair to the brand. You guys seem like the type who pirate and don't believe in government.
    • No one asked for yours or anyone else's opinion for what someone requested at the end of the day. Weather it be me or anyone. Thats what you or anyone not minding their own dont get. Pirate you don't know what your talking about. You can tell what someone seems like from reading some words. Amazing.. You seem like you believe everything you read on the Internet if that's the case. I don't know if I'm right, but I will try to do what you can do.

I'm sure there's a You Tube video where Dan Gill explained the design reasoning behind locking the software and hardware together was to do with timing and pad latency. I know another reason will be that Akai (like any other company) does not want the MPC software to be cracked (as already mentioned here), but if it does alter the timing (somehow), then the first question I would have to ask is "by how much"?
    • There were also implications from Akai that vintage mode is hardware, it turned out to just be plugins, you can't take everything they say as gospel.

Locking the software and hardware together for tighter timing and less pad latency might be an issue if you want to use a different MIDI controller instead of the MPC controller with MPC Software, but it has nothing to do with running MPC Software without any controller at all, as there are no controller timing and pad latency at all if you don't have a controller.

  • I think if the price was lowered to use the program without the hardware would be cool, but for the price, and the way programs are being easily Cracked. Ill live with the way it is. If they change it they should give some money back because itll just become another FL studio, or Native Instruments battery 4 and we can get that for $400, instead of $1500 after taxes. although they have some work to do software wise, the 1.3.1 update was cool, but for the buck it should have started at 1.3.1 and at lease be 64bit by now.

Honestly, I think the software accessible via the MPC is a good thing, it should not be accessible alone. Imagine, who has acquired the Studio version and discovered that both have access to the same parameter as him using a Korg controller for example ... Bad for the image of Akai equipment and bad for the owners of MPC (Studio, Renaissance ..)

" - Viewing! this is the new MPC!
    - No, it does not matter what you use, it is a software that works with any controller .... "

I feel we should have the option to work on the go, even if they provided a usb key for registered users. It's a pain to only be able to work or listen in one work place and only if I have my hardware attached. Even NI Maschine allows its unit to work with or without the software and vice versa. Just saying AKAI.

  • IMHO if you don't like this product you can always go buy something different

    • This section of the Akai forums is for feature requests, and Akai welcomes such feature requests.

What is your problem, why shouldn't we be requesting features that we would like to see implemented?

Why do you think you have the right to tell us to buy another product, that we shouldn't have bought an MPC, because we want new/different features implemented, or that we shouldn't be posting feature requests that you don't agree with?

Are you going to go through all the feature request threads and tell everyone that they are not allowed to request features, because you do your research on something before you buy it?

      Seriously, get over yourself.
    • Get over myself wow.Lmao

Personally, I would never use the software without the hardware. I can't imagine a situation where this would be needed. But I do acknowledge there are users out there that want this feature...like tweaking projects on an airplane or train. Lol

Man... "Idiot" "dick" "STFU" all sorts of name calling going on in here & for what exactly? Not that my opinion matters to any of you but I'm leaning towards agreeing with Chris Storey & Bairah Recordings' point (which somehow keeps getting missed by SimonInAustraila & You-Lee. The "funniest" post in here is whenYou-Lee mentioned Waves & ProTools which are the two software programs which are THE most pirated. I didn't get into the software world until Oct. 2011 & Waves Mercury & ProTool (along with Reason) were the first software programs everyone whom I've come in contact with were trying to offer me not knowing I'd turn them all down because I don't believe in pirating ANYTHING: music, movies or software from million dollar companies included but that's a completely different topic.

    • Your vacation and coming on this forum is the best you can do? Sad. LMAO!!
    • Here the real problem. You like many others can't simply mind your buisness. Your happy with what you have that's special. Leave the other people who are putting request alone. Go do you. Now have a good time on your vaca with your family. That's more important than getting all in the business that doesn't concern you. I started this request & I don't go on forums for this exact reason. Everyone is all in the business that doesn't concern them.

Anyway, I'll just say this: if any of you would like your opinions heard by Akai Professional, they are in this forum but insulting a company as a few of you have done while making your "requests" probably isn't a good idea. Common sense should have told you that. That's like insulting a person who's serving your food at a (fast food) restaurant. These companies are run by emotionless robots who's ONLY concerns are making money nor are their employees robots. Throwing insults their way are just going to get your comments overlooked. And, if you're not aware of your brash insults to Akai Professional then maybe you've got a bigger issue on your hands. Also, I'd like to add that if you'd REALLY want your comments to make it up their ranks of their priority list, ask if your fellow forum members to agree with you by "liking" your suggestion. Not everyone's actual "voice" needs to be heard here. That creates clutter. Be a "spokesman" (or spokeswoman) for your idea. Lastly, if you'd really REALLY like to get your opinion to be considered & taken seriously, just do what I did: Stop wasting time online, with social media, trying to 1-up everyone with "witty insults" & make more music which will put a spotlight on you this proving to Akai Pro that you're someone of an authoritative figure who obviously knows what you're doing. Akai Pro didn't consult Tom, Dick & Harry when working on their Renaissance, Studio, etc. They've consulted us (Q-Tip, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, The Alchemist, myself [88-Keys], etc.) Case in point, without saying too much about it, I have a feature request being fulfilled which I've been told that I am THE only person who's ever asked them for. The only reason they're even entertaining my request is because I've proven to them that I somewhat "mastered" their previous (legacy) machine: the MPC3000. Anyway, I can't say what it is exactly but just know that when 1.5 rolls around... It's Game Over! Anyway, enjoy the rest of your bickering if that's the route you choose to take but I'd say be smarter & choose your words carefully. - Viva La Akai Pro -

This has been blowing up my inbox all day. lol

For the record, Akai has been listening from the start. Numerous user request features have been added with each update...and even more are planned with the next update.

While I personally would never need to use the software without the controller (I did for 8 months and it was painful)...I do respect that some users want this feature.

The bottom line...this is just one of hundreds of feature requests that is no more or less important than the others. If the reason for not allowing the software to be used without the controller is due to pirating concerns....I respect Akai's decision to without this feature regardless of what other software companies are doing. This feature request has been submitted to Akai during beta testing, in multiple internet forums, and now here.

SimonInAustralia, I am sure your messages (or rants) have been heard. I am not sure if repeating it multiple times will make it a higher priority. But good luck trying.

...now where is the link to stop this from filling up my inbox. lol

If Akai was to have the software separate from the hardware that would mean that the software could work with other cheap midi controllers, then what would be the point at even making the MPC Renaissance or MPC Studio because for me honesty the hardware portion of the MPC Renaissance was one of the main factors for me deciding to buy the MPC Renaissance,IMHO the MPC Renaissance, MPC Studio, and MPC Fly should stay in its on series, because that's what makes it different and it was a selling point for me.

This is what I'm talking about everyone. Give us options Akai with how we want, can or have to do. No it's not the same as the Ren, Studio or MPC software. It's a different beast as it should be because its a different company making the same type of product. You can take it or not take the hardware and still do what you love.
    Just sayin...
