MPC X Some ideas workflow

FOR STANDALONE MPC X

first of all, sorry for the spelling mistakes, I'm not English speaking. So google translation helps me a little.

here are some ideas

GRID MODE : -2 fingers with the eraser tool = zoom in/out

LIST EDITOR : -a "manual mode" to create event without having to create an automation
-a function that would allow the screen to follow the automated values

SONG MODE : -have the ability to change the length of the sequences (1/2, 1/4, 1/8,...) nondestructive (to avoid having to create a shorter seq)

-the cursor keys should be used to navigate the window of the sequence (for the moment, it's only with the touch screen)

-have the ability to export exploded tracks in song mode

STARTUP SCREEN : -the browser with the project files should be displayed on the start screen (not only recent project or template)

SAVING AND BACKUP : - have the possibility to create your own templates (please)

- have the ability to eject a usb stick without having to go through the song mode (song/export/folder/eject EFI??? why?)

-add a "backup all" function (like a "Time Machine" of the mpc x) to save all projects at the same time on an external key or disk.

- have the ability to organize folders without having to go through a computer.

CHANEL MIXER OR PROGRAM EDIT : - have the ability to choose FX pre or post fader (and sidechain function)

MAIN MODE : -have the possibility to export tracks and sequence in midi files (.mid)

FX : - there should be an input on each effect
-have the ability to change the effects chain
-have the possibility to save fx preset (and share with akai community...)
-have midi effect...........

QLINK : - double tap the Q-link Knob = it returns to its initial value

XY MODE : - add a "color mode" = give the user the option to color the squares that are on the screen. which will allow live to have a benchmark from where it can start/stop used the xy screen on stage...

  • Hey Gil,

    Thanks for posting!

You've raised many fine ideas here so be sure to let our development team know directly! The forum is a great place to discuss potential new features for the hardware and software but be sure to submit this as a feature request with the MPC 2.0 Software's built-in feedback module. The feedback module is represented by a smiley icon at the lower right side of the software next to the browser icons. This information goes directly to the Akai team for consideration!

    Thanks for your feedback!

  • Nice Gil, I am to the point of abandoning my computer entirely actually. I feel that computers themselves (not just the software installed) have become the center of attention for me (not by choice) with constant updates and fiddling every time they appear anymore.

I draw an analogy to hammers, it's like people are more concerned with them than actually hammer nails, which is presumably why they bought one in the first place.

Anyways, just thought I'd weigh in my opinion towards more standalone features, pile them on, Akai people. This is what we want, not the computer crap, there is enough of that around. The duality of your accomplishment is commendable, but it was also marketed as standalone, so please satisfy both camps. I think that you have some obvious winners in the MPC X type machines (the live, etc.) to compete heavily with the computer equivalent. The issue you are facing, IMHO, is that people have associated the MPC with a beat machine, which it still also is, but as the guy presenting the MPC in some video I saw said, there is so much more to it. "Oh, you mean in that drum/beat machine?", which I still think is be the biggest hurdle, the perception after years of MPC in that arena.

If think it fairly obvious only after a very brief time here on the forum, Nick, so if you wouldn't mind terribly, please convey the general feel for standalone. I am not sure that requests of a general nature can be summed up by a few customer request, but I see your sort of standard response (not a complaint in any way, but rather a compliment in that Akai employees reading our post) to these things having been repeatedly requested so many times.

I am happy to own a MPC X, it is a true music maker.

    • Hey Robert,

While I enjoy reading the ideas and requests that MPC users submit and being able to discuss them here on the forum is great (and what we should be doing on a forum!), it is important to get the information to development where it will help the most. I do use a standard method of redirecting the flow of information with idea posts but it's not without cause! I want to make sure it gets into the right hands :)

      See you around the forum!
    • Oh I know, I meant in no way anything bad about your standard responses. It is something that is just needed, I totally understand that.

I mean more to convey the broad wants and needs which is not necessarily easy to specify in single requests. Perhaps I am wrong and the dev team separates multi-submissions (like this idea in its entirety) on its own? (I presumed to submit singles.)

Anyways, I was not trying to be negative, which is why I qualified it as not being a complaint, but rather a compliment. I meant that. Thank you for being on here communicating and being perceptive to us more-crowds. :)

  • (This is my first post for new ideas/requests so sorry if it's not in correct place....)

    MPC X Feature Requests:

    – Create your own project/song templates that can be saved. This would save setup time in starting a new project.

    – Preferences for changing the screen colors: Being able to change the red bar at top ( don't like seeing the big block of red on the screen as it's distracting to me), the teal waveform background (it'd be great to be able to choose our own waveform color, wave background color and highlight color), etc.

Thanks and keep rocking the code you guys!
