Stylus RMX and MPC Renaissance

Hi
Using Stylus RMX plugin if you drag the midi files generated from the "Time Designer" in the project area of the MPC software, opens a new window "Load in the sequence" where you can choose the sequence in which load the midi file (which will have the same name as the midi file).
The midi files will loaded in the first track of the sequence.
Now, is it possible, dragging another midi file from Stylus, load it to a new track added to the previous sequence?

  • Hello Cristiano,

Thanks for posting. I'd be happy to help!

Whenever importing a MIDI into the MPC Software, it will either add it to a new sequence or overwrite a previously used one (as you are experiencing).

The only way that one MIDI file could import multiple "tracks" at one time would be if that MIDI file contain information on multiple MIDI channels.

I'm not sure that Stylus would be able to export multiple tracks/grooves on different MIDI channels into one MIDI file. However, many DAW programs will have the ability to import multiple MIDI files, assign each MIDI sequence to a different MIDI channel, then export that as one MIDI file. It's not much of a universal process, so you'd have to refer to the documentation for DAW on further instruction.

Let me know if this helps!

  • It might help to see this in action to better illustrate. Here's a website offering MIDI files of Bach orchestral pieces:

    Dave's J.S. Bach Page

If you download one of those suites and import a MIDI file into the MPC Software, you'll notice that several tracks are imported with different MIDI data. This doesn't really "help", but hopefully provides some insight into what I'm describing above.

  • I really hope this limitation is addressed. All DAWs support drag and drop of midi from a plugin and that is great feature of plugins like rmx, geist, etc. RMX has time designer which randomizes midi so I hope you guys can add the ability to drag and drop midi onto a track within a sequence rather than creating a new sequence for a single midi part. Would only make sense if you could drag midi onto the track you are working on in the MPC.

You guys have done an amazing job with the MPC software and I hope this feature is added soon.
