I’m frustrated

Tempo Assignment In Force Is Too Limited For a "Performance Tool".

Either I cannot find this function on the Force or there is critical oversight in its design. There is NO apparent way to change the tempo other than the master tempo for the Project itself. If this unit is designed to be tool for live production, there needs to be more opportunities to build in tempo changes, either by assigning tempos individually to scenes, allowing the potential for each scene to be a song, or by allowing tempo to be automated. I cannot stop in the middle of a set to change tempos, can't rely on typing in the tempo change "in time" nor do I want to ramp up and down in tempo with the wheel between songs. I also can't stop to load a new project every song, or every few songs. I'm so disappointed because the Force was SO close to being the end all be all answer for me but this is a major set back. Again, if I missed this capability, please tell me where it might be but I've looked everywhere. Songs as a Use Case appears to have not been considered in the architecture. So so close.

Did you try using Ableton link? I believe that the Force supports this.

With a phone app (Soundbrenner metronome) I am able to change the tempo in real time... via having PC (MPC desktop) and phone on the same WiFi network.

  • Hey everybody,

    Thanks for posting!

In addition to what Simon recommended, the Force's project tempo can currently be adjusted in a few different ways.

For a more 'feel' based method, try using the Tap Tempo button. You can adjust the amount of taps needed to adjust tempo in the Preferences > General tab. You can select from 2 to 4 taps.

In Matrix View, press and hold the Knobs button and select Screen. The tempo value will be shown on the leftmost knob's OLED display and can be adjusted with that knob.

In Step Sequencer Mode, double tap the tempo field at the top of to manually enter a tempo value - this would be good for tempo jumps.

That said, I'll be happy to forward any requests for the Force workflow you might have to our development team!
    • Thanks Nick.

Unfortunately, all of these solutions are clunky during a live scenario for my use case. I have set up my tracks so each Scene is a different song. In order to move seamlessly between songs (scenes) I have to manually type in the Tempo and hit Do It at the exact moment I launch the scene (while playing guitar). Allowing different tempos to be assigned to Scenes would greatly expand the ways Force can be used outside of an EDM context.
