The Bank, The Noise, The Wub, The 809 (MPC 2.4 Software)

These MPC expansions show in my MPC 2.4 software (expansion browser) yet are not available to use.

Am I missing something with this? Even the presets are in my Windows explorer file folders.

It says to "load plugin to load list of patches" (in expansion browser), but there appears to be no related plugin or content for that.

I have no trouble loading Hybrid, or the other 3 "Elements" expansions.

  • Hey Shawn,

    Thanks for posting!

These expansions behave more like plugins as they have GUIs that can be used to edit parameters in different ways than using the Program Edit menu for a Drum Program.

In order to open these expansion plugins, select a Plugin type program at the left of MPC and expand the MPC Expansions menu. If these expansions were installed to the computer, they will appear in the menu like in the image below:

Click the window with the outpointed arrow on it that's highlighted in the image to open the selected plugin's GUI.

    I hope that helps you!

  • Hi, thanks for the response.

I had already looked there, and know they are not showing there.

I did assume that if there are files in my Windows explorer folders (under "Program data") pertaining to these expansions, that they would be supposed to be available to me.

The MPC 2.4 manual also states: " A gear icon indicates an MPC Expansion that is included by default with the MPC software."

So, if I am correct, then the only content I have included with MPC 2.4 is what came with Hybrid?

I already had Hybrid anyhow, but I have zero loop/drumkits/one shots/midi or any content that installed with my MPC 2.4.

I already had the 3 "Elements" packs from MPD218 with MPC Essentials purchase.

I also see folders for "Factory Content/Factory Drum content/Factory Loop content" in my Program data folder. Am I supposed to have any content included with this, or are these folders/files for some other reason?

  • Hi Shawn

These packs are displayed by default when you install MPC software, yet you need to download the sound installers from your Akai account page for them to access the sounds. On your account page they are located below where the actual 2.4 software is. There are a host of other download bundle deals to explore also. As the Hybrid is just a synth this is not required.

    Hope that helps.

  • Although I am sure I have looked there, (pretty sure I saw demo packs), I currently can't seem to access my account with my noted email and password.

Tried too many times and am currently locked out...
