I’m anxious

The middle B key on my MPK mini is not working, does anyone know if there is a fix? Or should I just return it?

I have set up the keyboard on MPC essentials and used the oxygen 25 patch in the keyboard editor. All of the other keys and pads work just fine, but when I press the middle b key, either it will only play for a split second, or it wont play at all. Please help me as soon as possible. Thank you to anyone who can help.

  • Hey Jamaine,

    Thanks for posting!

Let's test the MIDI output of that key to see how it is sending data.

    For testing on PC:
    MIDI-OX

This video will get you set up quickly for Input Monitoring in MIDI-OX:
    Monitoring MIDI Input with MIDI-OX

    For testing on Mac:
    snoize: MIDI Monitor

You should see that depressing the key results in a Note On message (also watch for velocity consistency - the monitor will show you the values). Upon releasing the key, you will see a Note Off message. Test the key that's giving you trouble against other keys that are working properly. Are there any differences between them?

    Let me know!

  • Firstly, thank you very much for responding to my plea so quickly. I used the program and found that when I pressed the keys down, the note would be on and then when I let go, the note would be off. The B key when pressed down did this only a few times. The rest of the times it was pressed down, "note on" and "note off" simultaneously appeared on the monitor. What does this mean for my keyboard?
