updating the mpc studios firmware

i bought my studio last week and started all the updating yesterday.

i first read all i could get in this forum about the update, to not brick the mpc.

i followed all the instructions "Update MPC Studio v1.10.exe" told me,

i connected the studio to my powerd external usb hub, to the back of my motherboard and to my second pc at the office.

long story shot: if i open the mpc software it still tells me no successful update, still at 1.00 and this after 15 trys to install the firmware update.

so now? i tend to send it back to my dealer and buy a maschine.

  • well, 12 hours later and no help from akai.

    now i contacted my store about this and they told me, that they get confronted with this problem at least once a month and they will send me over an updated working version. (they use an old office pc, just for updating this piece of hardware!)

    as much i love akai`s hardware, but at the moment your software and costumer service is a shame. letting the costumers almost alone with a problem like this, is a really bad behavior.

    i have also seen videos when the update is working, the pads lite up in a special way, to let you know the update is currently running and or working. why don`t you write this to your tutorial? http://www.akaipro.com/kb/article/151... , i was trying and trying an so on.

    if I had known that the pads have to light up in specified order, i wouldn't ran the update so often for nothing, because i would have seen it does not work.

    the lack of information and complete documentation in this segment is awesome.

    and just a little hint, put the the firmware version to the lcd screen of the akai when it starts up!

    Thanks for posting. I'm sorry you're having difficulty.

    I would not recommend using any type of USB hub or extender, powered or un-powered, to run the update.

    What type of computer are you running the update from? Mac/PC? Which operating system version?

    Let me know some details about any particular error messages or where the update seems to run into trouble. I'd be happy to help!

  • well it took akai 5 days to give an support answer? do you think this is an appropriate timespan to help the people, who help to pay your salary?

    i know, but since it was not working on the back of the system i gave this a shot.

    2 windows 7 pc`s latest updates.

    if you would have read my posts above, what you obviously haven't done, you would have known that there are no error messages. all runs as told and if i reopen the mpc software, it still tells update needed. there are no error messages!

    i also pointed out a few things in the posts above, don`t you think you should also answer to that?

    you didn`t help me at all and after 5 DAYS you come up with more questions and a impersonal text block style reply, that sounds more like: "get away, you are disturbing me!"

    my store helped me and did send me over an updated version of the studio for exchange, it arrived monday. hey guess what, read the text above!

    i can`t tell how disappointed i am of akai, you let the shops do your work.

  • I'm sorry for the poor experience. If you'd rather contact our technical support team via phone, see the contact information listed below. Often troubleshooting a firmware update is much easier over the phone or via remote computer assistance.

    I'm not sure I understand the end of your previous post. With the new MPC Studio you've just received, you are still receiving a message that the firmware requires update?
