I’m upset

using akai advance with pro tools 12

my advance 49 does not work with pro tools 12. I am wondering if there is a file similar to the one for ableton live? Pro tools does not recognize that advance is even on my system. I am using win 8

  • Hi,

    Thanks for posting!

Pro Tools doesn't accept remote script type files like Ableton (if that's what you're referring to). Essentially, you'll just be able to get the typical key/pad response from the Advance in PT, but most everything else is just functionality for VIP.

Are you able to get any response from the Advance in VIP? VIP in standalone?

If not, test the Advance with a midi monitor to make sure it is still working properly:

    Windows: MIDI-OX

Open MIDI-OX with all other programs closed. In the Options>MIDI Devices section, select your controller ports from the MIDI Input menu. Click OK.
Now MIDI-OX will simply list all incoming MIDI messages. This will help confirm if the controller itself is responding properly.

Let me know how it goes!

  • Hi Michael,

Not sure if you are still having trouble with your Advance and PT. We've put together a video setup guide that I'm hoping might help you out:

    Advance - Pro Tools Setup

    Hope this helps!
