Using another sound source with Synth Station

Would it be possible, using an adapter such as this one:

To connect another audio source (say the audio output of a computer on which the Synth station is being used as a MIDI controller) so the signal would come out of the Synth Station?

  • Hello Ben,

    Thanks for posting!

I can't be sure that type of adapter would work. It would not be officially supported by Apple, which can often mean you'll see trouble with compatibility.

Technically, those cables are tapping only the audio pins of the 30-pin connector. There are many other pins responsible for many other functions including providing power to USB devices. Often, there are certain pins that an iPad uses to detect that a specific type of device is connected.

The short answer is that it's not supported and you'd have to test it to know for sure.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

  • Well, as it turns out, it does work.

In a sense, it allows something that could have been done solely through the USB, and make the product a bit more versatile than it currently is. Maybe something to take in consideration in future product design.
