VIP software has only 4 pages for instruments parameters?

I was checking some of the instruments included with my hardware, and the thing that I noticed is that it seems that VIP support up to 4 pages for the parameters of an instrument. If you have more; though love.

One example is Hybrid: you have more than 32 controls; but when I try to scroll pages for the parameters, I get 4 then it goes back to the first. I can't see any way to add new pages, and each page of course, fits 8 parameters at the time (which are mapped to the knobs of the midi controller).

Is there a way to create more pages? I like the idea that I can do most of the work from the keyboard; without look at the computer screen; and feel strange to see VIP software being limited on the pages it can create; while NI KK for example, can create as many pages as it wants.

there are 4 pages for the plugin + four pages for the patch = 8 pages total
you can automate the buttons (lower row) inside your daw as well.
in total you got 8x16= 128 parameters.

more pages would be useful... but it is what it is.

  • I see, how do you switch between plug in and patch banks? When I push the left and right buttons on the keyboard, it just cycle through 4 pages.

Got some plugins that would benefit from getting more pages. I just wish there was no limit, like on Komplete Kontrol.

    on the keyboard:
    go to control
use the 4 way arrows to navigate to the top left: by pushing the encocer you can switch between patch/plugin

    within the gui:
you got 3 tabs on the lower end of vip. one is for control. on top of the tab you can switch between plugin and patch.

definitely, however they should be grouped like kontrol. not in a random order based on the vst parameter list.

    on the other hand:
kontrol doesn't support plugin control mappings - for example you want to change the filter control (for massive) for a plugin you need to edit EVERY patch in kontrol. Inside vip its one switch.

  • I see; so to change, you need to use the 4 way arrows...I would never figure that out to be honest, since I thought that all you do to switch presets is to move the arrows.

On the app it is easier; since there is a tab to switch :)

So plugins parameters stay mapped when changing between patches? I am not sure I see this, probably I didn't register the correct controls to the correct knobs I guess.

  • Hey lumberjack,

    Thanks for posting!

As astey explained, you can select either the Plugin or Patch map to configure the Advance's encoders. The map modes can be toggled from the Advance's display or within VIP. They will act independently of one another.

This is beneficial because you can customize the plugin maps with control parameters that you often use throughout presets and then specialize the patch maps to your individual presets.

Let us know if you have any questions!

Thanks for your help, astey! :)

  • Hey Eliza,

Yep, got that; although I don't seem to see consistency with the mapping.

One plugin patch is mapped, the next one is not; so I have to modify every patch in the plugin; instead of set up the pligin parameters in the plugin tab, only once.

From what you and Astey said, the parameters should be preserved when I switch between patches, for the settings related to the plugin, but it is not happening.

Is this a bug? I am using a plugin that does not have a native map; I did import the plugin patches one by one manually; so maybe that is different from modifying an existing and supported plugin ?
