Accelerometer and changing instrument by using Vortex on Vyzex ?

Hi, i just bought a Vortex wireless. I'm using with Vyzex DVI. I have 2 problems:

1 - the accelerometer seems to NOT working: I see the LED/tilt and the values running, but the sound doesn't change behaviuor.

2 - I don't be able to change instruments by using Vortex: I can change instruments only with mouse on PC...

Thanx so much.

Regards,

Matteo

  • Hi Matteo,

Thanks for posting! I'll be happy to help!

It sounds like your accelerometer may not be properly calibrated or disabled. Let's have you properly calibrate the accelerometer.

The accelerometer sends MIDI data when the Vortex Wireless is tilted within the calibrated threshold for the accelerometer (45 degrees by default). The Tilt LED will light and the LED display screen will indicate the value of the MIDI message being sent when the accelerometer is sending MIDI messages.

    1. Press the Patch Edit button.
    2. Press the Cal Accel key. XY1 will be displayed on the LED display screen.
    3. Move Vortex Wireless in the minimum up-down position.
    4. Press the Enter key to set the X1-Y1 position. XY2 will be displayed on the LED display screen.
    5. Move Vortex Wireless in the maximum up-down position.
    6. Press the Enter key to set the X2-Y2 position.
To double-check the accelerometer is not disabled:
    1. Press the Patch Edit button.
    2. Press the Cal Accel key. Acc will be displayed on the LED display screen.
    3. Press Mode Assign. You should see the LED displa screen show oN.
    4. Press the Enter key to save the changes or the Cancel key to revert to the original setting.
For your second question, you'll want to save and load your patches. A patch is a preset that you can load or edit. When you load a patch, a program change message will be sent through the USB port and 5-pin MIDI Out port. There are three patch banks to select from (A, B, and C) on Vortex Wireless.
    1. Press the Patch Select button to cycle through patch banks. The corresponding bank LED will be lit.
    2. Use the Trigger/Drum pads to select the patch to load. Alternately, you can quickly select the next or previous patch by pressing Patch Select then immediately pressing Program Up or Program Down.
    Editing Patches:

Press the Patch Edit button to enter this mode. The three Patch Select LEDs will be lit when in this mode and PE will be displayed on the screen. This mode lets you adjust MIDI message values. To exit Patch Edit mode and save all adjustments, press the Patch Edit button again.

Vortex Wireless allows you to store and recall up to 23 different patches.
    1. Load the patch that you would like to edit.
    2. Press the Patch Edit button.
    3. Select a parameter to edit.
    4. Press the Enter key to save or press the Cancel key to revert your changes.
    5. Press the Patch Edit button to exit.
You can also use the Vyzex Vortex patch editor software to edit your patches.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions!

  • Re-reading your ask, it's born some doubts: You write I have EDIT one or more of the 23 patches available, and further, load and assign them to A-B-C patch bank.

But, if I well understand, patch n.23 (pre-edited and dedicated to Vyzex DVI using) it's NOT editable; does it mean that I have to do some copies of patch 23 and edit them?

Please note that my only need it's to change INSTRUMENT during performance, I don't need to change other parameters/MIDI messages.
And please note that, for the moment, I use my Vortex only with Vyzex DVI.

Another thing I don't understand, if and HOW I can use Vyzex patch editor in using my Vortex with Vyzex DVI: I tried Vyzex Patch Editor, I found a lot of parameters, but NOT the instruments.

Please excuse me for newbbe status and of course stupid questions....

  • UP(date)! :)

I understood how to change patch in P23 (th ones dedicated to Vyzex DVI), but I dont' understand how to assign different instruments to Vortex button (PADS, for es.).

I'd like to change instruments WITHOUT using mouse/PC, but do it by using directly my Vortex.

    Is it possibile ?

    Thanx so much.

  • It's possible assigne an external VST for every patch? How I can do it...if it's possible?
    Thanks
    • Hi Gianni,

It will be possible to call up stored patches that come pre-loaded from within the Vyzex Vortex software, however, it's not possible to load VSTs into the software and change them on the keytar itself. However, I think this is a great idea, and I'll be happy to submit it to my development team as a feature request for you! :)
