Is it possible to adjust the tempo of a loop (either factor installed or user made) directly on the Strike Multipad?

  • Hi Jim,

    Thanks for posting.

    Yes! Follow these steps below:

    1) Press the F6-View function button while in Effect View in Perform Mode to access the built-in looper.
    2) When the looper is activated you can set the BPM and Time Signature by pressing the BPM button.

    • Hello, Bhargav

I have taken down your feedback for our development team. All of the sounds are categorized already, once you become familiar with the encoder and how to move around the Strike Multipad in Sound view it's pretty fast, you just have to sit with it for a little while like with any product.

We appreciate you taking the time to submit your suggestions :)
    • ok thanks a lot. let us know when will the update come in india lots of people and specially my friends are eagerly waiting for this. Over all Multipad is excellent but just some of mentioned problems is to be solved. Once its solved Strike multipad will be the biggest hit amongst all percussion pad. And Sales in india will go to rocket height.
Otherwise big screen, Massive Memory, color system are excellent idea and it is very helpful.

  • Thanks Bill.
Will this process change the tempo of an existing loop, though? Say I create a percussion loop at 120bpm then decide I'd like to use the same loop at 106bpm. Will everything slow down when I adjust the bpm downward?
    Thanks,
    Jim

Hello, I too would like to see this feature. I had a sample that I wanted to loop and then adjust the BPM to slow down. I'm sure it would get a lot of use if it were an option. Loving it so far otherwise!

This would be a great feature, I agree. Adjust existing loop tempos on the fly. Please!

Please consider having loops locked to the Kit tempo so they can be sync'd up and manipulated

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Syncing built in loops with BPM on Strike Multipad.

Hi just purchased the Strike Multipad today, already know Im going to have a lot of fun with it. One thing that would make it way better though is syncing the built in loops to the kit BPM so you can speed them up/slow them down. Can you please add this to the next update?? other than that this pad is amazing!

    Hello!

I have set MIDI Sync to external, so the Strike Multipad must be synchronized with my other midi hardware (a drum machine, some delay effects and also another loop).

The click sound loses its rhythm in some measures and the recorded loop remains in sync for a while, but, after a few minutes, I must stop the recorded loop and start it again.

Are you aware of this behaviour? It would be nice to have the option to quantize the beginnings of the loop when external clock is received.

One more thing: Is it planned to implement an undo / redo function for the looper?

    Thx a lot!
    • Hello, May B

Keep in mind when engaging the metronome on the Strike Multipad, it does not enable the clock to be received it, it turns on the VOLUME of the metronome. So if you turn the click on at some point, it's not necessarily going to start on the ONE, which might feel like the click is not moving. I would recommend enabling the metronome FIRST, then launching the loop. This would be the best way to get them to sync.

      Hope this helps!

  • What about just the simple ability to quantize the loop of the pads played and have that adjust to a changing tempo? Mostly I would be happy with the ability to quantize my input to a predetermined resolution and tempo. The ability to time stretch the audio would be icing on the cake though. :)

  • This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Loop Bpm, Tap Tempo,Change, PItch Change, Categorising Waves.

Then Strike Multipad should definitely work on Bpm Sync and Tempo change function. there should be a function in which Loops of diffrent tempos and be synced to a desired Bpm.
Without this feature there will be no market in India. India is the biggest market for Percussion Pad and mostly players use this function.
So if Alesis want to do nice business in India then
    it should have this function,

Plus function of Categorising of sound because Mukti pad have massive memory and so we will put thousands of sound so it will be very difficult to find while making kit patches. So times we make Kit patches on the stage it self.

Another thing Pitch change function like what we have in Yamaha DTX m12, Spd 20 and 30. No need to overnight sample or create new wave after changing pitch. In above mentioned model we can change pitch easily. in DTX m12 we can also change pitch of Waves imported.

If these 3 thing are introduced then Alesis will be a biggest hit model in India.
I am repeating INDIA is the biggest market and have highest user of Percussion pad. I my is playing pads since 25 year so i know pros and cons of all models.

Just follow SPD SX take it whole system and Solve the problem which SPD SX is having. then Strike Multipad will be a big hit.

I am giving you the list of problems which SPD SX is having so your task will be much easier.

Should add pitch function and some solution for browsing tone in instrument.
Because other pad have group function for tone. Like Group for kick, snare,Indian etc etc if Sx gives a function in which we can create costom Group for sound In which we can put a sound in selected Group then it will be easy to make patches on the stage.

In 2gb if we have 2000 sound then we cannot remember In which number our preferred tone is there , then imagine in 16Gb how can we search sound??
It do have a software for making but what if we want to search a sound on stage where we do not have our laptop with us.

as there is no company tone so only group function should be given and we can name Group name according to us.

Pitch problem is also there. If we change a Pitch of 1050 number wave and we have total 2500 wave then new wave will go to 2501 num which is very problematic and we cannot remember number if all 2500 waves.

Pitch should be easily changeable like we did in SPD 20 & 30 no need to over right or create new copy.( Yamaha Dtx M12 have this function for Samples).

There is FX of Pitch change (pitch shift)
But if we apply that in 2 or more blocks then sound latency problem is there.
    Sound comes late.
Another point is as its sampling pad its mostly used for loops, Function of Loops Phrasing should be given like how we use Guitar looper.
one click for recording loop and another for stopping and as we stop recording it automatically starts playing in loop. just like guitar looper.

One more suggestion that we are addictive to play on SPD 20 like pattern.
4 pad up and 4 down. So it will be nice if you make a sampling pad with SPD 20 like layout.
