Alesis DM10 MKII Drums with Logic Pro X, Hi Hat doesn’t Work

My hi hat doesn't work with my Alesis DM10 MKII plugged in via USB to my MacBook Pro using Logic Pro X, 10.2.2.

Has anyone found a simple solution for this?

If I replaced my Alesis DM10 MKII drums with the equivalent Roland drums will this solve the problem? (With the V-Drum setting in Drum Kit Designer I would think so).

Thank you in advance. I want to keep writing and recording songs and leave the programming to someone else with a talent for that sort of thing!

  • You'll have to be specific when posting for DM10 MKII or you may get the wrong information. There are 2.The Studio and the Pro..entirely different modules.

As for Drum Kit Designer..it is setup for CC1 (mod wheel) not CC4 that is transmitted by a continuous/variable Hi Hat.
You'll have to make adjustments in Logic X.

This post marked as "Solved" includes 2 downloads for a footcontrol "remapper" for Logic and reportedly works..I don't use Logic so can't confirm , but it should help you from spending hours looking for a solution.

I don't know if there was ever an "officiall"solution (Apple). You'll have to check in the Logic forum.
The web is filled with this problem/question..search for Drum Kit Designer and CC4..
it's not related to a specific drum company..just continuous Hi Hats in general.

    Here are just a couple...

The midi notes sent from the module for the Hi Hat are in the user guide for whichever module you have.

  • Thanks for the reply - I have the Studio model - can't seem to find a way to edit original post... Will go back to the mapping ..again.. definitely will check out downloads. Feeling a bit more optimistic today... :)
