Alesis Multimix 8 FX USB not recording sound in Logic 10.3, why?

I was trying to record vocals and guitar last night through my Alesis Multimix 8 FX USB onto Logic. This is the first time I have had an issue. The mixer itself is working. I can hear myself play and sing through it. However, it no longer connects with audio tracks in Logic.

I have tried changing the inputs but to no avail. I tried everything I could think of last night, check ed everything on the mixer i.e volume, gain, phantom power, USB to mixer/monitor etc and everything was configured correctly. I checked my audio preferences and the output and input is configured to the mixer so the software recognizes that it is attached.

I, then, create a new track with the correct input and go to record and Logic does not pick up any sound whatsoever... Is this an issue with a software update to a new version of Logic? Is there something I am missing?

Previously I have not had a problem with this I would appreciate some advice.

  • Hello,

    Thanks for posting!

The Alesis Multimix 8 USB FX is a class compliant device that does not require drivers to be recognized by your computer.

Do you have the desired track within logic record enabled?  You would have to have it enabled to be able to monitor the signal from the software.

Also, to be clear, does your software recognize that the mixer is connected to the computer?  From your description, it looks like you can change your input, but you are unable to monitor what the signal is inputting. Is this correct?

Let's try creating a new configuration within the Audio/MIDI studio to see if it makes a difference.  Check out this link for more information on how to go about doing this.  Keep in mind, while this is for a Fractal Audio product, the process will be the same.

Let me know how this goes!

    Hi Bill

    Thank you for your response.

Yes, the tracks are enabled. The tracks do not pick up the input signal nor does the computer. The output signal works perfectly.

Yes, the software recognises that the mixer is connected. I can hear the input signal through the mixer i.e with headphones playing guitar but the input signal is not picked up at all by the computer. Yes, the USB is connected correctly.

I have recorded hundreds of time over three years with this mixer and computer and never had a problem. I don't get why the input would just stop especially as I can play sound from the output...

Creating a new configuration did nothing.

    No entiendo.

    Please help.
