Can I record each input channel to different tracks in my DAW with the MultiMix?

I'm quite confused with the Alesis Multimix options. Is the one currently being produced (Alesis Multimix 8 USB FX ) capable of sending mutliple tracks to my DAW, or will it only record stereo output?
I realise that there were two options availible a while back that were the USB 1.1. and USB 2.0, and apperently it was possible to do so on the 2.0 version. Since (as far as i understand) these are not being made anymore there is only one option left and i can't find the answer to my question, since it is quite confusing to know for sure which version the person is writing about.

Just to make sure we're on the same wavelenght i'll add some links:

  • Hello,

Thanks for posting! I'll be happy to help!

The MultiMix 8 USB FX is the current 8-channel mixer available.

If you're using the MultiMix 8 USB 2.0, you can record in a stereo output, as well as record multiple tracks within your DAW. To record multiple tracks in your DAW, the # of tracks that you want to record will need to all be record-enabled.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

  • Just to make sure i understand you right.

With this product I'll be able to record each input chanell to separate track in my DAW?

And if so, is that not the case for the smaller version, the Alesis Multimix 4 USB FX? (says so right there: http://www.alesis.com/kb/article/1744...)

Edit: Ok, i still can't tell if the current version is usb 2.0. or 1.1, though i got some answers from this and it's quite a nice tutorial too - http://67.192.162.144/stuff/contentmg...

  • Hi Lin,

Yes, the MultiMix 8 USB 2.0 will allow you to record each input channel to separate tracks within your DAW. To expand on my previous post, in order to record each track separately, you'll want to make sure your sources are connected to each of the inputs you want to use on the mixer, and that the tracks you've created in your DAW are mono tracks. After creating the mono tracks, just make sure they're record-enabled.

All of our MultiMix mixers are now USB 2.0-compliant.

Hope this helps! For further questions or support, please contact your nearest Alesis Support Office. Their contact numbers are posted on that page.
