Alesis Sample Pad - Clicking or No Sound when loading from SD card

Hi There,

I purchased the Sample Pad a couple months ago, and have yet to sort out this issue.

I have followed all the suggested solutions in the manual, as well as in previous topics regarding these issues:

http://community.alesis.com/alesis/to...

http://community.alesis.com/alesis/to...

I have tried multiple SD cards of different brands (Sandisk, PNY, Lexar, etc) and both SD and SDHC.

All were formatted to fat32 at 4096kb cluster size, and the cards were all under 8gb in capacity.

The samples were all named with only 3 characters max.

They were all converted and exported by Wavelab as 16bit 44.1khz mono .wav files. I also tried using dbpoweramp to convert the files using the same recommended settings.

All samples were short and no longer than 1 second long.

I also tried resetting the unit to factory settings.

Once the SD card was loaded into the Sample Pad, there was no card error message.

When assigning the SD card .wav file to a pad, there was no error. The Pad Sensitivity was tried at default and at full. The Pad Level was tried at default and full. The Sample Pad's main volume was set to full as well.

For all samples tried, except for one that made a glitchy/clicking sound, there was no sound at all when the pad was hit. However, the internal sounds played fine.

Looking for a solution as soon as possible to use this unit for performance.

Thanks for your time.

  • I’m canadian.
I am right up this alley also.

Did all my samples using Reaper and a PC.
    Mono, 48khz, 16 bits.
    Less than 1mb sounds.
Normal characters used in naming the patches which are all located on a brand new SDhc card. Root location also.
Tested and retested every aspect of this.
The machine actually loads the samples and won't show any error messages.
Just won't play them...If only a very short and faint clicky sound.
Like it plays 1 milliseconds of the sample.
    Mind boggling.
It would be tremendous if there was a place to download a few samples online, tried and proofed, so we can install these on our SD cards and see if the problem comes from the self made samples or lies elsewhere...

  • Did anyone ever figure this out? I'm experiencing the exact same problem right now. Bought a second hand samplepad complete with SD card. Samples from the previous owner worked fine. But now I've got my own samples (44.1kHz, 16bit, mono) wich at first didn't work at all. The samplepad used to give me "format error" (or something like that). After putting the samples through a converter that error was gone, but now I have the same problem as noted above, a kindoff glitchy sound instead of the sample itself.

    Please help!!!

  • We tried everything to get it to work, and there was no solution. The problem was the unit itself. We had to return it and get a new version of the samplepad. If you got it second hand, it's best use is as a controller for either software or some other piece of hardware via midi.

  • I tried to export with reaper and failed. Then I exported with audacity and voila, it works.

    audacity is key here!
