Alesis Strike Pro Module Wish List and Release

Hi,
Many have seen the New Alesis Strike Pro and some had a chance to ask question to Alesis employees at Namm 2016.
Here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UyP4p...

Here Strike Pro start at 5:00 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_96c...

It appears the Module have 8GB memory internal, Can handle 40 layers multiples sample and 60 horizontal sound round robin reported from Namm 2016... (confusing on the second video he said hundreds of sound can be built for each pad...to me is sound like 128 layers capability)

-My wish would be to make it at max 127 layer capability if not already done, information as a bit not clear right now..

-Default kit only make BEST kits not garbage or boing sound preset kits that users never use or want to try, keep the users preset kits clean, means good sound kits overall, 15 SOLID KIT Max is enough, nice ride, nice crash, nice toms nice snare, with overall good dynamic\ multi layers and about 5 percussion\effect kits, More you trow users kits which are so so and more you make the module first impression look like average etc and why wasting memory for these slots and amount of default sample when users will use their own sample with SDSE VST to *.wav converted sound...First impression are usually what you see in forums and web site which something is not accurate..

-Click track routed to phone only is important.

- Editor to build kits, this include all parameter from the Module, tune, decay, making users kits, etc, and importing sound Drag and drop with the Drum templates

-Ability to imports wav\mp3 with SD cards\USB

-No Time loading like Sample Rack\Sample Pad Pro this is no go, no one want this and waiting loading with users kits change, not working live environment at all..

Thank you for reading and looking overall great, it;s shaping very well, can't wait to see it live.

How many other people are wondering whether to wait for the Strike Pro (if it ever arrives) or go ahead and buy a Roland TD-25KV? I wonder how many have given up waiting in the last month, or how many will in the next month (and perhaps I will be among them). This, despite the sickening business tactics of Roland, of course, who may be largely or entirely responsible for this delay.

I never understand it, when a company fails to update their customers and potential customers regarding product progress on a regular basis; it doesn't take much to give honest, brief status updates. How much are the PR and Marketing people paid at Alesis? And what is their job description? Perhaps only an ability to copy and paste? I can understand this behaviour from a pie-in-the-sky kick-starter project, but not from a large, established business going through a routine product release – especially of a flagship product.

Every reasonable person can understand that the nature of supply chains, software development, design processes and legal proceedings results in unexpected delays and extended timeframes. Everyone can also understand that some information must be treated as confidential to the business, while other information must be saved for release-time. This does not translate to an inability to communicate some form of progress to the end client, in any business. In the modern world, especially, an active feed of information must be considered a key part of the business strategy if a company is to stay relevant. Certainly, many sympathetic ears and eyes would turn to Alesis if they were to, for instance, oficially note any legal proceedings being brought against them unjustly.

Perhaps this air of uncertainty is a ploy to develop anticipation in the consumer, in which case it is surely working. Of course, with heightened anticipation comes heightened expectation. Too much, and a company can end up hanging itself on the yarn it has spun by the time a product comes to market.

Alright, it's been MONTHS and Alesis has yet to release a video showing what the Strike Pro SOUNDS LIKE! Yes, it's all very fancy looking, but if it sounds like crap, what's the point?

Perhaps that's why no audio clips have been released...

  • I have a maxed out DM10 Kit. I am starving for info on the Strike Pro Kit (Module Only) and how compatible it will be with the DM10 equipment. I wonder, if the (possible) lawsuit with Roland does not incorporate the Module - why not release and sell just the module for now - until all legalities are out of the way?

The law suit is for patent infringement claims. Infringement on multiple patents. The cymbals and of course the mesh heads. Roland no longer holds the patents on mesh heads themselves, but they seem to have found a loophole. Since one can not patent item again after it becomes public domain. Roland patented an entire Vdrum system with mesh heads as part of that patent. Crazy right. So basically now a company can sell manufacture and sell individual mesh heads themselves, but they can not sell them as part of a drum system. Otherwise they are supposedly infringing on Roland patents. The claims against Alesis are completely bogus and wont hold up, but it definitely worked to slow down the release of Alesis new Flag ship drum kit the Strike Pro. Why do you think Roland waited right up until the Strike Pro was set to hit the market to sue them. They know their claims are garbage but they can hold them up long enough to sell out their TD-30's and unveil their new flag ship model the TD-50 and its working quite well. Roland has deep pockets and does this to every company that developed a product that competes with theirs. The only company that produces competing electric drum-sets that Roland has never messed with is Yamaha. Now I am not sure if that is because Yamaha has never used mesh heads on their drum kits, or if thats because Yamaha the one company producing Electronic drums that is much larger and has deeper pockets that Roland. I am going to assume its the latter, because Roland seems to always come up with a reason to sue another company no matter how bogus the claims are. Roland may not have been the sole cause of hart dynamics going out of business but they definitely played a part in it.

Roland is reason why the edrum market in the United States remains quite stagnate. No one wants to stir the giant that is Roland. In the United states those who can not have acoustic drum sets because of noise levels, have been stuck between buying a cheap technologically insufficient Electronic drum set or purchasing an overpriced drum kit from Roland and yes they are overpriced. Which is another reason Roland stays vigilant when it comes to thwarting the competition, because it allows them to keep their monopoly on the market, which allows them to charge their high prices. Their was hart dynamics who produced very nice drumkits, but they did not have their own modules. Pintech use to make descent stuff but their technological advances have been stagnate for years and they dont produce their own modules either. They call themselves the most innovative company. Well its easy to be innovative when you have deep pockets and no direct competition. The Alesis Strike Pro was finally going to be the answer for people. More specially the Strike Pro module and the kit is half the price of Roland flagship kit. Roland knew this, which is why they went in hard on Alesis.

With all of that being said though. I have been on quite a few sites set to sell the Alesis Strike Pro and talked to some reps. A couple months ago the reps were saying that Alesis was keeping everyone in the dark about the release and they did not no when they would be receiving the drum kits for shipping. Now that has changed as they all are saying the drum kits are set to ship in early to mid December. If I were you guys. Id wait until a real demo of the Strike Pro drops. Once that happens then I would place my order for the kit. As the kit is going to initially sell out quick because its high anticipated. After it sells out it may be months before you can find one and if you do find one on a site like ebay. They are going to be taking advantage of the shortage and trying to sell them at a huge markup. Right now everyone seems to be waiting on a real demo and specs of the kit. Once that demo hits the web. You better act quickly and place your orders.
    • Remember patents are only available for USA sales, not Canada and Europe. Yamaha get sue from Roland, they had mesh head earlier before, they removed. Same thing with Pintech, company closed, they got SUE from Roland, they was not able to continue in court expense, they had to close, the patents are more powerful if you have more money then the others for all expense courts require or means nothing.

  • I currently own a Hybrid DM10 kit that is maxed out! I am not unhappy with it and prefer real heads over mesh heads - noise issue not withstanding! However; I am always looking to improve and saw no great advantage of the Roland Kits over the Alesis! My DM10 was purchased over time via parts on eBay! Good bidding and buying, wheeling and dealing saved me mucho bucks over the then retail pricing! I also picked up an Alesis Transactive 400 Amp for a song! $150 including shipping! Now I am interested in the Alesis Strike Pro Module - not the whole kit! Just the Module! I am buying nothing at any price until I get some straight answers, demos, youtubes or whatever on that module! I want to see it, hear it, spec sheets etc ... .. What it does do - and does not do! E-Drum Kit Parts are a dime a dozen commodity! Modules and Amps etc... are the KEY Element that makes a KIT worth buying or not! And to date Alesis has said only WAIT and SEE! Wet the whistle and leave you hanging - pisses me off! If a stinking mesh head is holding up the show - dump them and go back to real heads then produce and release the module! We can always convert to MESH via KIT later if that is what is wanted! End of Story!

    • because the total kits cost 1600USD, if you compare to others flagship or mid level module they are selling between 1100$ 1500$ and 2400$ only for the module, they might release the module 6 month later but not at the release date of the kits. I don't think you will see the module under 700$\800$ USD range.

  • I too ordered and put $1000.00 down on my kit the last day of September 2016. I just wish the company would be more forthcoming with info on this kit. They even took a whole page in the L&M catalogue to promote it. Like it was already out. MMMM? Be more up front Alesis, please.

  • I’m undecided
I see the user manuals for the Strike Pro Kit is on the Alesis documentation page.
I'll had a quick look and found the information light on as far as midi.

    Before I place my order?
Could somebody from Alesis confirm that using the standard DIN and USB midi you are able to recall the kit presets using bank select and program change? Couldn't find anything about it?
Both Roland and Yamaha DTX series you can recall kit presets and I'd assume it to be a standard feature however, the manual doesn't cover any information about recall of kit preset using midi!!

I use a iPad to recall my presets via USB midi

If not so, no can buy.. Deal breaker. Just hope you are able to?

  • Update. I had not cancelled my order as I thought for sure they would push out the date again. I was about to order a Roland. I got an email yesterday that the Strike Pro HAS SHIPPED to me Economy Ground. I don't know because tracking info isn't available, but it looks like I may get the drum set this week. I'll keep you posted. I purchased it from Guitar Center online so that I would have a 30 day unconditional return. There is a store in town, and if I don't like it, I can return it there. I will review the unit once it arrives.

  • You have got to improve those writing skills if you do this for a living. I mean, my God! I could not understand a word you wrote, completely disorganized and terrible grammar. I suffered trying to make sense of what you wrote. I don't know whether the kit is good or not, all I was left with is a sense of responsibility to tell you that your writing seriously needs to improve.

    much love.

  • I’m Pissed off waiting.
We in Australia are still waiting for the arrival of the Strike Pro Kit.

Like always we get all worked up on NAMM products and don't see the hardware land here till a good year later because we are a small percentage of sales. Apparently the Pro Kit is available mid June 2017.. We'll see? Guarantee to be August at this rate.
    • Well, I have my Strike Pro kit and its so far is the best E-Kit I've played.. Has been a long uphill battle to get it!

Now the next problem to solve:-

Please Please somebody here has this working?

Does the module respond to midi program change messages. I can't seem to select kit from my MAC laptop with midi selected to Channel 10 on both Strike and Mac! Used both USB and standard midi in socket (No Go)

I'm tearing what's left of my hair out..

Please Please don't tell me Alesis thought it was a great business opportunity not to add basic midi implementation? Every other high end E-Kit module on the market responds to basic midi implementation. I'm suspecting this by the absence of a midi implementation sheet nor mention of it in the user guide?

      Please let me know Bill?

Next version of firmware in v1.3 please...

  • I’m sad
Well, I ordered mine back in January through guitar center in San Antonio TX, it was expected to arrive by mid January. It has been back ordered ever since. they first moved it to the 1st week of feb. then got pushed to mid march, then May 31 and I just got an email saying it will be back ordered until June 15th. I'm beginning to think that the Alesis strike pro kit is nothing but a myth. (one that I have spent 2500 dollars on :)(
