Alesis Vortex Wireless 2 Wireless Adaptor Not Working

My keytar was working before, but now it's not sending any wireless signal. The USB cable still works.

I don't think my keytar is sending a wireless signal, or the wireless key isn't receiving signal. I use Ableton. I haven't changed any settings. How do I troubleshoot?

  • Hi Paul,

    Thanks for posting.

With your Vortex Wireless 2 connected wirelessly, I'd like you to go through the following steps below. This will help us to determine if this is hardware-related.

    MIDI-OX - PC - http://www.midiox.com/

In addition to the test below using MIDI-OX, you can also use Send SX (Windows). This program will let you know if and what MIDI information the controller is sending.

**Before you run MIDI-OX connect the MIDI Controller and power on.

    1. Download and install MIDI-OX.
    2. Run the MIDI OX application.
    3. Select the Options menu and select MIDI Devices. Make sure to select MIDI inputs and MIDI Outputs for the MIDI controller, in this case, the USB Audio Device and click OK.
    4. Select the View menu and select Input Monitor. The field type, Data1, contains the CC information. Test the functions of your controller in the monitor.

    MIDI Monitor - Mac OS X - http://www.snoize.com/MIDIMonitor/

What is it MIDI Monitor? MIDI Monitor is a free utility for Mac OS X which displays MIDI signals in a variety of formats. It can watch both incoming and outgoing MIDI streams and can filter them by message type and channel. Musicians will find it handy for tracking down confusing MIDI problems. Programmers can use it to test MIDI drivers and applications. MIDI Monitor is free to download and use.

    1. Download, and Install MIDI Monitor.
    2. Open MIDI Monitor.
    3. Click on the Sources tab to view MIDI devices. Confirm that your USB/MIDI device is listed.
    4. Once you confirm your MIDI device is connected and listed. Play any key(s) on your keyboard/controller to confirm each button or key is sending data to your computer. If your device is working you will see a message with data like below. The device is not sending data you may have a hardware issue.

  • Hi Bill,

I tried the MIDI-OX on my PC. I am still not getting any signal. Nothing is showing up in Data 1. I think it's a hardware issue.

  • You have to re-pair your wireless device to the vortex try that also. You have to plug the keyboard up via cable then re-pair the with vortex wireless preset software. Just an FYI fix. Mine wasn't working also. I just fixed it today then after I paired it back up with the wireless device it worked fine. Took me three weeks to figure it out. -_-. WINDOWS 10 FIX FOR NO WIRELESS SIGNAL.
