Alternative hi hat pedal choice for Nitro Mesh Kit?

My Nitro Mesh Kit works well except the hi hat controller pedal produces loud noise when I quickly release it. I believe it's due to the design of the pedal. I purchased a RealHat pedal but it doesn't work even with the adaptor. Is there other choices of hi hat pedal for my kit which is quiet and better to be adjustable? Or how to adapt Real hat pedal to my kit? Thanks.

  • Hello,

    Thanks for posting.

You should be able to use virtually any continuous type hi hat with your Nitro Mesh Kit. There won't be any additional setup that needs to be done with any third-party hi hats.

  • Thanks! My kit has a 1/8 plug for hi hat controller, but when I connect it to Realhat peal with a 1/8 to 1/4 adaptor it just doesn't work.

  • Can you please provide me with some more information? Does the module make a faint cymbal sound or splash sound when you quickly release the pedal? What kind of sound is emitted from the module when you release the pedal?
    • When I release the pedal quickly, the pedal plate hits the hull. And it produces a mechanical sound of plastic hit with each other. The module itself doesn't make any sound.
Could you also tell me how to make RealHat pedal work with my kit? The kit has a 1/8 TRS hi hat controller plug but the pedal has 1/4 outlet. It does't work with a 1/8 to 1/4 adaptor.
    • If the module isn't making any sound when the pedal is depressed, then you may need to replace the pedal. Part inquiries are not handled here on the forum.  For information on parts, simply contact our Parts Department.  If you live in the US, you can reach them at 401-658-3131 ext. 1403.  If you wish to reach the Parts Department by email, contact them at parts@inmusicbrands.com.

If this is the case, it sounds like the realhat pedal will not work with or be compatible with the Nitro Mesh Kit. However, I'll be happy to submit this to my team as a feature request for you.

  • I have almost the exact same issue! Using the nitro module with a real hi hat pedal (came with my old studio USB kit). I have it plugged in through a 1/8 to 1/4 inch adapter as well. I adjusted the sensitivity both ways and it's not working right like it did with my studio USB kit...it only opens the hats occasionally, when it does it takes several tries to close it. It's not natural at all.
    Any update on this?
Sounds like a hardware vs software issue.

  • I actually think that it was more of a BATCH ISSUE! The REPLACEMENT PEDAL that I received from ALESIS is from the DM10 Kit! It says so on the box! This one works like a REAL HI HAT the best I've had yet with this Kit! I just think at this point it's a batch issue as well because the Sensor is PACKED DIFFERENTLY as well! The housing is mounted with a different shape to it and it is secured differently and it appears that is will handle more professional playing than the defective pedal that it replaces for me... imho... Thanks Everyone!

  • Is the pedal they replaced yours with? If so, this is the one I'm having issues with connected to my nitro kit.

It stays closed even with my foot off the pedal (not physically) and I have to press down with the weight of a 300lb man and release my foot at the speed of light for it to open, then press down very hard and fast for it to close. It's VERY unnatural.
