Any way to link x2 Alesis kick pedals to the single kick output?

I found a 2nd Nitro Mesh Kick/Bass pedal for cheap.

Is there any way to hook it up to the single kick input so I don't need to waste Tom 4 or a Crash input to get double kick?

I tried using a mono splitter and hooking up both pedals into the existing kick 1/4 but no luck. Maybe it needs some kind of load to do this?
