Bugs and features

Hello everybody,

first and foremost thank you for the Strike Multipad, i really enjoy this machine and I am glad I waited so long to get my hands on it. Secondly, I hope I am not putting too much things in one post but it seemed unnecessary to me to create multiple threads.

That said, I have been thoroughly programming and testing the Multipad's features in the last few days, as I am rehearsing for two upcoming tours in September/October, and I came across some bugs. I also have a few suggestions feature-wise :-)

BTW I am using firmware v1.1

BUGS

1) Dual-zone triggers (head+rim for sure, didn't try 2 triggers mode) won't retain "feel" settings when switching kits. I tried setting the threshold several times but it always reset when switching. This didn't happen when i swapped the dual zone triggers with single-zone ones.

2) Duplicating a kit (copy+paste, happened once) froze the system. I could navigate the menus but no sounds were played and the lights under the pads didn't animate anymore when played. Rebooting the multipad did fix the issue though.

SUGGESTIONS

1) Add the possibility to choose if the kit should autoload or wait for confirmation when switching kits via the KIT view (using the main encoder). It already happened to me a few times that while rehearsing and browsing for the right kit I had to wait for a generic one to be loaded because I was too slow changing between them. It can also be useful if you want to prepare a kit and not load it until you need it.

2) Add the possibility to select a pad in the PAD view without having to play it. I wanted to program a trigger without connecting it but i couldn't do so (unless I have missed this option).

3) Add the possibility to activate or deactivate the "sound" option for a particular pad or a group or pads via another pad. Basically under MODE in CONTROL view, add a Sound: On/Off setting with the option to choose a particular pad or group. This would be very useful when using triggers. In my case, I have a trigger on my snare with a tambourine sound configured which should only play after mid-song so it would be useful to deactivate it until then. Right now i did this by using pad cue but if one needs to play something else in the meantime...

4) For rehearsing I am connecting my phone to the Record In which works fine until I load a kit with a Master FX loaded, as it is also affects this input. Therefore, adding an option to exclude the record in (and usb in if it affected too i don't know) from the Master FX would be appreciated.

5) I accidentally tapped the import button in the SOUND view a few times while programming the kits and, while there was no usb key plugged in, it took the multipad an eternity to see so. If reducing the wait time isn't an option, at least a Cancel button would be appreciated.

6) The metronome could be improved, too. First of all, the Tap Tempo should, in my opinion, calculate the tempo by doing a mean calculation (much like this one, were the code is also visible in the page source https://www.all8.com/tools/bpm.htm) and not by considering only the last i don't know how many taps. Secondly, the click should start as soon as one clicks the button (there is a delay right now). Last but not least, a 12/8 subdivision would be nice as it is frequently used.

7) Others have said this before but the looper should have a quantize feature. I am not planning on using it right now but it would be useful in case one did.

8) Others have said this as well before but a software editor would be nice. I get that this product was conceived to be used "in the box" but for programming multiple songs quickly it would be better. At least giving the possibility to an indipendent developer to do so would be great.

And this should be it for now, I'll update if i find anything else! Thank you for reading through all of this, here's a cookie for the patience.

  • Hello, Michele

    Thanks for posting!

I have logged your feedback and submitted your feature requests to our developers :) Some of these have already been submitted but it helps to know more people out there are looking for the same features.

In regards to the Metronome not started when you first enable it, the Metronome is consistently running, the button just turns the VOLUME on. So, it may not come in on the "1" when enabling it. This feature is subject to change in the future.

    We appreciate your feedback!

  • This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Alesis Strike Multipad editor software.

PLEASE, make a sample editor Software on PC for the Alesis Strike Multipad!! That would change the game absolutely and I would buy one.

  • Hello Criss, i found another bug! The last user kit can’t be renamed for some reason. You can write the name but once you save nothing changes.

But the way are you planning to increase the number of user kits? I didn’t think I would have used so many but every artist i collaborate with asks me to use the multipad once i show it to them :)

  • Hello, Michele

If you are having issues saving the name on the last User Kit, just change the name of one on any other User Kit, then Copy and Paste it into the last User Kit.

    1. Go to Kit > Copy
    2. Copy Current Kit
    3. Click on browse, go to the last User Kit
    4. Click on Copy and Scroll down to Paste to Current Kit

You can back up the current instance of the Strike Multpad, then make your changes to any User Kits. Back it up *again* and then flip back and forth between backups. Keep in mind this will work for parameters and internal sounds. You would have to manually load user samples if that is what you used for your kits on the first back up.

    Hope this helps!

  • Please Alesis have a look at this page also. See how much criticism is going about Strike Multipad. Please listen and act about customers of if you are working on updates , please notify on social media or other communication platforms. it is assumed that there is no progress and Alesis is doing nothing to improve the product.
