Command Mesh Ccash triggering play along songs

I bought the command mesh kit for my son and it's awesome, however certain kits (reggae, Latin, etc.) will trigger a play along song any time he hits the crash. I can't find any way to disable it. Incredibly obnoxious to say the least, so if anyone with more edrum knowledge than myself can point me toward a setting I'm missing I would appreciate it.

  • Can you assign a different crash sound to that pad? On the nitro you'd select a kit, then select "voice" on the module. Then hit the pad in question and press left or right on the module to change it. I would just find a different crash and save the kit.

  • Hi Cynthia,

Thanks for posting. Sorry you're having issues with your Command Kit.

Follow these steps to edit your pad's voice:

    1) Press Kit to enter the Kit Selection page.
    2) Press Menu to enter the Kit Menu.
    3) Use the Down and Up buttons to select Voice, and then press Enter.
    4) Hit the pad whose voice you want to edit. The pad's name will appear at the top of the display. You may also use the dial or Left (<) and Right (>) buttons.
    5) The display will show the pad's current voice and its parameters. Use the Down and Up buttons to select Mode. This will indicate the pad mode.
    6) Depending on your playing style, you will want the pad mode set to either Poly (polyphonic) or Mono (monophonic). Polyphonic mode will allow your sample to "overlap" itself if you hit it several times. Monophonic mode will allow the sample to be triggered and instantly silence any previous sample from the pad that is still playing. If you want to disable song playback entirely, set this mode to Stop.

After making your edits, follow these steps to save your changes:

    1) Press Kit to enter the Kit Selection page.
    2) Use the dial or Left and Right buttons to select the kit you'd like to save. To switch between the preset kits and user kits, press Kit.
    3) Press Save. Rename Kit will appear at the top of the display. To change the currently selected character, turn the dial. To move to the next or previous character, press the Left or Right buttons.
    4) After entering the name of the new kit, press Down to select Save to continue saving the kit or Cancel to cancel and return to the Kit Selection page.
    5) The desired user kit and Save? will appear in the display.
    6) Use the dial or Left and Right buttons to select a user kit.
    7) To confirm your choice, press Enter. Save OK! will appear briefly in the display. To cancel this operation at any point, press Exit.

    I hope this helps!

  • I tried this but all it does is silence the crash completely. Changing to another crash doesn't do anything either.
I noticed in the settings it lists "pad song" this is set to 064 for the Latin kit and I don't see a way to turn it off.

  • To disable song playback altogether, set your Pad Song Mode to Stop. This will silence all samples, stop song playback, and deactivate the metronome.

  • I'm experiencing the same problem but with a non-mesh kit, a normal Command!
Seem there's no solution but a new firmware...

  • i think there are some faulty modules around... One it's mine, other it's yours! :-) Seems that nobody else is having our problems so far; or no one plays Reggae with Command from Alesis!

Bill wrote us the way to save kits, saying it's possible to overwrite EXISTING KITS but it is not! The only way is to waste 2 slots of the user kits to save Reggae and Jazzlatin without pad.songs on crash1...

    UNBELIEVABLE!!!
    NO MORE ALESIS FOR ME

    • If you get a solution from the tech please let me know. The official word I got from customer service is "it's supposed to be this way". If true it's is the stupidest feature ever as it essentially renders the crash useless on those kits whether you want the play along or not.
    • No, the only answer i got is "how to save modified kit in user empty slots" so basically no one answered the right way! Now listening to the answer you received makes me undrstand that Alesis is not for me... This morning i sent it back asking for a full refund!
By the way i 100% agree with your thought about the stupidness of that feature!
      Good luck

P.S. i don't think it's how it's supposed to be, because otherwise a lot of customers would have complained, it's impossible, come on!
