DM10 firmware update issue

Hi,

I bought an Dm10 studio kit a few months ago and decided to try the new firmware update in order have better sensitivity and eventually prevent the non-chokable cymbal from muting other components of the kit. I followed the instructions and all went well ... until I power on my drum kit again ! I have now crosstalks all over ! I tried to change the kit settings to "studio kit mesh" (mine is not a mesh kit) and there is less crosstalks (and the toms sound louder) but there is still some. What did I do wrong ? I only downloaded the firmware update and installed every files contained in the zip file. Is there something more I should have installed ? Did I install too much ? Should I try a factory reset ?

Thanks in advance,

Yoann

  • Hello,

Thanks for posting. I'd like to help. First use this guide below if you ever run into crosstalk on your drum kit. If after performing this, this doesn't help your symptoms, perform the full kit reinitialization procedure below it.

  • Thanks a lot for your reply.

I am concerned by the fact that the new firmware that was supposed to fix crosstalk issues finally ended up adding more on my kit. I don't want to spend time on the dm10 setting when all this was working fine before the update, except for the non-chokable cymbal.

Is there any way to go back to the previous firmware (factory settings) that worked better for me ? I'd rather forget about the increase of sensitivity than spending time (that I don't have) on tuning every single component of my drum kit. Would the "hard reset" do the trick ?

  • Unfortunately, I live in France and won't be able to call any of these numbers during office time. I've tried to do some settings as both reset didn't do anything. It seems that the tom rims are now highly sensitive and happen to trigger even if I don't touch the drum kit, the third tom's rim seems to be more sensitive than the others, even if its setting (sensitivity and Xtalk) is similar to others. Choosing the studio kit mesh trigger setting seems to fix that a bit. But the third tom's rim still sound when I hit something else.

  • Try reinitialising the triggers and select DM-10X.

When I selected studio by mistake on one occasion, the triggers and crosstalk were seriously messed up on my DM-10X.

I don't think there is a massive amount of difference between the setup of the two kits, and it's easy to go back to the studio trigger initialisation if it does not work.
    • Thank you very much for your answer.

I've started to make changes from the studio kit mesh trigger settings, but if this doesn't work I'll try the DM-10X settings. It sure has to be close to what the studio kit settings should sound. Right now I still have the third tom's rim triggering from time to time.

It seems there really is a problem with the studio kit update. :(
