DM10 and Logic Pro X Problem

DM10 modual cuts out after a few moments of working through midi via USB. I know its not Logic because it does the exact same thing in garageband. Also, I'm new to the Alexis community! Thanks for any help you can give!

  • Welcome Jake! Glad you found the community.
Have you tried all USB ports? Are you able to try another USB cable?

Using this MIDI monitoring application with all other software closed, do you see messages stop as well when using the DM10?

How long have you had your kit? Where are you located?

  • I have the same issue and its driving me nuts, tried different USB ports, different cable, low latency setting, closing all other applications and nothing helps, eventually logic stops responding and misses other notes, although i have a feeling it may be an OSX issue as i set the kit to note chase mode and it changes with my playing, the midi notes are just missed in logic.

would love a solution as since i upgraded logic i can no longer record a decent drum track and have a few projects awaiting my tracks.

    • Hello,

I would like to help. The USB HUB actually may be the issue. It is recommend to plug your module with a 2.0 USB cord directly into your computers USB port. If your using a laptop, I recommend using the USB port closest to your power adapter.
    • Hi Matthew, I had no issue of the actual midi cutting out, just logic x, my kit runs fine on other platforms ( garage band with Addictive drums). the issue is logic x and its Midi Buffer, I found it doesnt cut out if you have the track running, so think of it as a way to force you to just play to a click.
and yes, plug straight into the computer, not through a hub

  • I'd be interested to hear how this thread progresses as I've just bought a DM10 for precisely this reason, to use with Logic x.

  • Hi J Sandeen, thanks for your fast reply.
I have run the tests you have asked, Kit played fine for a while and then starts to drop out like normal, sometimes it takes 5 min other times 25min.
yes the kit is visible in the system information menu
    it lists this
    Product ID: 0x0022
    Vendor ID: 0x13b2
    Version: 1.00
    Speed: Up to 12 Mb/sec
    Manufacturer: ALESIS
    Location ID: 0x06200000 / 3
    Current Available (mA): 500
    Current Required (mA): 2

ran midi monitor today while playing, midi monitor showed every note i was playing. and when the kit started missing notes it was still showing i was hitting notes and correctly displaying what note

i did not use the Snoise monitor though, i just used a program called "MIdi Monitor"

what should be my next step to trouble shoot.
    i am using a 17" macbook pro - 8 gig ram - 2.8GHZ intel core 2 Duo
    running Logic X 10.0.6 and OS X 10.9.1

Kit is a DM10 pro Kit, maybe 4 years old
    Trigger OS V1.00a
    sound rom V1.03
    Sound OS V10.00p

anything else you need please let me know

  • ######Solution#######

to anyone else encountering this issue i have found the solution,

if you are just using logic x for the sounds and not actually recording anything, Ie just jamming along and the kit starts dropping out......

all you have to do is press play in logic for a second and then stop it

the issue seems to be logic saving all the midi info in a buffer incase you want to recall what you just played and pressing play resets the buffer and you should be able to play again unitl the buffer fills up again.

well this is what is working for me.
