External Audio with Alesis DM10 and Superior Drummer 2

I use my Alesis DM10 e-kit with Superior Drummer 2 and the ASIO4ALL driver. My question is, when I try to play any audio outside SD2 (running through Toontrack Solo) I get no output. Thus, I can't really play along to any songs. Is there any way to be able to remedy this?

    Hi,

    Thanks for posting!

When the DM10 is used to trigger sounds in software (i.e. connected via USB), you are only sending MIDI data to the computer. This then triggers samples in your software (SD2). From there, the audio will be sent to your computer's soundcard or an audio interface. Whatever is selected as your audio output, which is what I assume you are connecting your speakers/headphones to while using SD2.

Without a software open to generate sounds, you won't have any audio coming from your computer or audio interface, though the DM10 will still be generating audio and sending it to it's own audio/headphone outputs. In other words, if you'd like to just listen to the sounds from your DM10, connect your speakers/headphones to the outputs on your DM10.

I hope this points you in the right direction!
