How to have keys and pads play on separate MIDI channels

I purchased a VI61 controller that I am using with Mainstage. I would like to use the drum pads to toggle other things in mainstage. How do you disassociate the pads from the keys so pages are not toggled when I am playing notes on the keys?

  • Hi Jerry,

Thanks for posting. Check out this thread to help you out with this. You will need to set the keys and pads to separate MIDI channels in order for them to work independently of each other. Consult with your DAW's manual to find out which MIDI channel it receives this from. If you're still having issues, please get in touch with your nearest Support Office for one-on-one assistance.

    Hope this helps!

MAINSTAGE & V161 (Drum Pad set up) - HELP!

Hi, I have just purchased the Alesis v61 and I'm using MainStage 3. The issue that I am having is that I want the drum pads to be separate to the keyboard (when I play hit the pads, it plays notes on the piano and I don't want this). Is there any way that I'd be able to change this? Instead of having the drum pads as note values.
