How to select GM on Alesis DM Lite

I want to use my new DM Lite with Propellerhead Reason 6 (Kong Drum Designer) or another sequencer. Unfortunately, it seems there is no way to get this to work properly, since the Kong pads cannot be mapped to the key notes that are sent by the DM.
So I want to make sure GM commands are sent out. Maybe in that way I can play/record drum sounds properly in Reason, using another virtual instrument with editable mapping.
When I look at this topic (, there is a suggestion to press "Pattern" and select "-- --N". Unfortunately, when pressing "Pattern" and then going up and down, there are only numbers in this list (going from 01 to 30).

In addition, there is the issue that no other note value is sent when sending open or closed hi-hat. It seems that only another CC-value (#4) is sent when the hihat is open/closed. How can I deal with that? Any other users of the combination DM Lite - Reason here?

Thanks in advance!

  • Hello,

I would like to help. Follow the directions below to setup your DM Lite with your computer correctly. I've also included what MIDI notes are used with the DM Lite via USB-MIDI below.
