'Incompatible data' after upgrading to firmware 1.4

Hi all,

After upgrading Strike Pro to firmware 1.4, the module shows 'Incompatible data' for every one of the kits. This causes no sound for any of the kits so it is not possible to play drums any more. The module identifies the hits but does not reproduce its sounds.

I tried reinstalling the firmware 1.4 twice, the issue is still there.

I am trying to restore the factory firmware. However, I did not see any information about this procedure other than the factory reset (this does not downgrade the firmware).

Anybody experienced the same issue? Please help!

Regards,
Javi

  • Hi again,

Interesting work around I came across. I have just reinstall firmware 1.4 without the SD card introduced and it worked! The issue has now derived to another one. All new kits as part of v1.4 do not work properly. Every time a pad is hit, it produces just noise instead of the sound itself. Interesting to note that the noise duration seems to match with what the duration of the sound should it be working correctly.

    Any suggestion?

    Thanks,
    Javi

  • Hi Javier,

Thanks for posting. I'm glad you were able to get your first issue resolved :)

Can you please elaborate on the second issue you're experiencing? Particularly with the noise? What kind of noise is being emitted? Are you able to hear any of the drum's actual sounds over the noise, or are you only hearing noise?

  • Hi Bill

Thanks for checking. It is white noise instead of the sample. Actually, when selecting the samples, all the ones linked to the v1.4 are just noise. They behave as if it was the sound itself, as apparently it has the same duration and also the intensity is linked to the hit strength. It is just noise, there is no sounds behind the noise. Tried to reinstall v1.4 a couple of extra times without success...

  • Thanks for the additional information. Can you also please clarify whether you're experiencing this noise from your mains, headphones, or both? Please also confirm that you've run both the firmware and content updates. These updates will occur and should be performed back to back. If you could also provide me with specific presets, I can double-check these on my module for you here.

    Thanks!

  • Hi Bill

Noise appears in both, main and headphones. I have run both updates several times. As previously mentioned, it happens only to the new kits included in 1.4., so the default one (first one) experiences this issue.

Just in case it helps, I think I can provide the guidelines to reproduce both issues:
    1. Module bought recently, coming with v1.3
    2. Download 1.4 for Windows
    3. Update the module using 1.4 .exe (with the SD card inserted). For the firmware update, DO NOT TURN ON THE MODULE IN UPDATE MODE, BUT TURN ON AS USUAL. Detect the module and proceed with the installation of the firmware update even though the module is not in update mode...
    4. Proceed with the content update as specified by the installation wizard
    5. Once the installation is complete, when turning on the module, it will show Data Incompatible every time a kit is selected (any of them, even user defined ones), not producing any sound at all, making not possible using the drums
    --- ISSUE 1
    6. Update the module using 1.4 .exe WITHOUT THE SD CARD INSERTED. This time, follow the installation wizard instructions (put the module in update mode for the firmware update this time... as it should be)
    7. Once the installation is complete, when turning on the module, the Data Incompatible message will not be there anymore and all the kits will work, either preset and user kits, EXCEPT for the first batch of new kits introduced in v1.4, which will generate the mentioned noise
    --- ISSUE 2

    Kind regards,
    Javi
