iO Dock Makes Recording Easy

I picked up an Alesis iO Dock last week and I'm loving it! Having the iO Dock, combined with the ease of use found in GarageBand on the iPad, has made recording fun again! Before the iO Dock, a traditional recording setup would tie me down for hours of tweaking before ever getting any result. That process would totally drain my creativity... well, not any more! The iO Dock's quick and easy setup means I can have an idea and get it recorded in a matter of minutes! Here's some examples of what I've been able to do over the last few days. Keep up the great work Alesis!

  • I waited months untill the Alesis IO Docks became available. When I got the e-mail from sweetwater saying they were in, I was one of the first to order. Well, after having the unit for a month and half, I have yet to get audio out from any of my music apps or even midi to communicate in or out. I thought I was just doing something wrong at first. But time after time I see people just pluging it in and everything works fine. I took the unit and my ipad to the Apple Store to have them check that my ipad was working properly.

There are no problems with my iPad. I plugged in the apple Camera Connection Kit and a USB Midi cable, connected it to my gear, and midi heaven!! The Core Midi function works fine, but nothing on the I/O Dock. To make matters worst. My brother just bought an I/O Dock. As he opened the box there was also an adapter for the iPad-2. Although that did'nt matter, we have iPad-1.

Well before he could try it out, I put my ipad in this brand new dock and everything worked perfectly. All midi and audio worked great. I then tried mine again, and nothing happened. He put his ipad in my dock and again, nothing happened.

I need to exchange this unit asap, to say the least. Has anyone else experienced issues with midi or audio just not working, completely dead? Its as if this was a display unit with no internal electronics. All it does is charge my ipad. a $200.00 ipad charder??? Give me a break Alesis!!!
