Just bought a DM Dock but the app is unavailable to download! How am I supposed to use this thing?
Any news from Alesis on this? I have a shiny new DM Dock which I can't use!

Bill, none of those apps allow you the same control that the dm touch app afforded. That’s a HUGE negative. Could you please pass along a request to at least put dm touch back on the App Store with the understanding that it is a legacy product. Many of us would be more than happy to just have the old app. I know of 5-6 individuals, like myself, who do not have the option of returning our dm docks due to it being past the typical 30 day return timeline since our purchase. Those 5-6 are in my city. Who knows how many are out there worldwide.

This information needs to be made clear on your website. I would not have made the purchase had I known this. There is no mention of the hardware or app being discontinued and unsupported. I appreciate that to was built for older iPads, but if you are still selling and promoting these on your website, the information needs to be up-to-date. Otherwise you are misleading people.

Well Andrew...welcome to the nightmare. An employee will respond and act like it’s not a big deal. “Just use another app” (without any recommendations; because there aren’t any.).
Can you imagine buying a Mac only to find out they no longer provide an operating system?!?! I was duped as well. My last Alesis product. -

That's crazy man. It's totally going back to the store. thanks for your reply James.

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for posting about your legacy DM Dock.
The DM Dock is a long-discontinued legacy product. Due to changes in the iOS operating system, the DM Touch app is no longer available or supported. However, since it is a standard audio/MIDI device, you will be able to use it with virtually any app, such as GarageBand,Cubasis, etc.-
Sorry to be blunt, but that’s such a BS excuse. I bought this thing literally last week and the DM Touch logo is STILL in the box, and now I’m expected to carry on and look the other way? What kind of a marketing department is Alesis running? Are you aware that the online store (one of the biggest in Europe) is still selling this with no indication regarding DM Touch? And I’m supposed to buy this and deal with it on my own? What the hell is going on?? Would Alesis please grow a pair and either take this product out of market or properly support it?
And please, someone tell marketing to update the site. It’s embarassing. -

It’s probably 32bit, so Apple may not host it.
Best you can hope for is the ‘feature request’ punchline, ie ‘sweet Fanny Adams’. -

Bill,
Kudos to Alesis for putting the dm touch app back on the App Store. I’ve been a longtime alesis user (midiverb 2, nanocomp, etc.). Many of us would be more than happy to see Alesis thrive in the market. The dm dock is a groundbreaking device. I’m hoping Alesis builds on the technology and continues to give support.
Cheers,
James -

Bill, I have tested it with various midi apps and it only works with very limited functionality. There is no hi-hat control, and the kick drum retriggering doesn't work correctly. I'll certainly be returning my Unit.

***(sanitised, compliant repost deleted yesterday)
I posted a topic about this a while back, and was totally given a soft-soaping runaround.
I also placed numerous calls to Alesis Support in the US and UK, and Sonivox Support, and have finally received a reply after a couple of weeks or more. “The DM Touch App is not supported on iOS 11. We are no longer planning on updating this software as well.”
So there you have it. It’s been discontinued and will NOT be coming back.
To the O/P - you have been sold a product not fit for purpose. Return it under those grounds. As I have previously stated on here, these units should not continue to have been sold, and should have been recalled by Alesis if they knew that the app required to operate the DM Dock was being withdrawn.
You will not have access to the trigger settings etc without the app.
The excuse that you can use other software/apps is pure ***nonsense. -
-
Additionally, I have successfully returned mine to a major UK supplier and (as a 'feature request') advised them of the above situation, warning that they may have a lot more returns and refunds on their hands if they continue to sell these units without the app being available.
Boom-tish etc
Good luck in this appalling charade -

As of now, October 10th, the app could seemingly be found on the App Store, but only for iPad. And then I check the App Store via iPad and it’s not there anymore.
I just bought the DM Dock, I want it to work properly. Don’t give me BS excuses about third-party software. It’s like buying a computer and then hearing “You’re on your own with the OS”.
Do not underestimate the power of angry consumers and social media. We will not let this die until we get a satisfactory resolution.

Looks like you may be in luck folks.
The DM touch app was available on the App Store yesterday.
I wonder if the pressure of all those 'return to seller feature requests' has helped this along.
I'm still glad I returned mine though - the whole experience was a headache. -
-
And so it is. I just downloaded it, will give it a test-run later on.
I would liked to believe that a couple of messages to Alesis' Facebook page and a formal complaint to the vendor helped.
Never give up, if you're on the right side of reason.
Alesis, please learn from this. Never let your consumers down. They will either be your biggest supporters or your biggest detractors. I think you know that. -

I have an old iPad3 and an iPad4, running iOS9 and 10.
They are perfect for running DM Dock.
Please bring it back to the App Store. -
