Mesh Head Problem

Has anyone else had a problem with their mesh heads ripping. I bought my set about 3 months ago and already had to ship my snare drum head back because it ripped. Now one of my tom heads ripped. I am using zildjian drum sticks with the plastic tips. This kit is going to get expensive if I have to keep send the heads back at $8 shipping everytime it rips.

  • Hello Ryan,

Sorry to hear about your issue. I'd like to help! Were you using a Felt Kick Beater? Felt kick pedal beaters will damage a mesh kick pad very quickly. Due to the added friction of the felt beater on the mesh pad the beater will eventually punch a hole in the head.We recommend using a kick beater made of a hard material such as plastic, wood or metal when using a mesh kick pad. Solid rubber kick pads work better with felt beaters but they should never be used on mesh.

  • To avoid hitting the mesh heads too hard, try various Trigger velocity curve settings like Spline or Log (O/M p26).
