My DM6 seems to be sending the same midi note for different pads. For example, the snare, the hi-hat and the crash all seem to be sending the same note so I just can't map it properly in Studio Drummer (Kontakt).
Any idea why?
Thx

Hi Nick,
Thanks for posting.
By default, the DM6 will send a MIDI signal over channel 10. However, in order for you to use your DM6 within Kontakt, you may need to manually configure the kit within that software. Check out this thread here for more information. -

Thx for the thread.
My issue is that it seems that Kontakt is seeing the same midi signal form different pads. I see the right signal on the DM6 controller but somehow, something gets lost in translation! I had a different drum kit before and I didn't have the issue.
So midi learn doesn't help at all. Is there another software I can use to monitor what the DM6 is sending as midi signal (other than Kontakt)? -

You can use a software like MIDI Monitor or MIDI Ox to see what MIDI signals are being sent by your module. Check out this guide below for more information:

OK, based on what I'm seeing from the MIDI Monitor, it looks like your module is sending MIDI data properly. That being said, it sounds like this may be an issue with how the module is setup and configured within Kontakt. I would recommend contacting Native Instruments for assistance with setup inside of their software.

Thx. To make sure I understand, having multiple pads sending A-1 is normal?

Is not normal, you cannot map distinct sounds to the same Midi note

Thx. It’s just weird that Kontakt won’t see these as different pads when I use midi learn.

I am actually having the same problem within fl studio. I'm using the Alesis Dm6 drum module

Hi Bill. I just sent a request to support. I'm still stuck with this issue. Regardless of what I do, Kontakt sees this as A1 for the snare, the ride, the HH, etc. So what ever I assign to A1 is going to play that instrument.
It used to work fine with my previous Yamaha drum kit. I just don't know what's the matter with my DM6. -

If this helps, I don't see the drum kit as part of my MIDI setup on my Mac

I had the same problem, last night nearly don't sleep trying to figure out what is the problem, but I just fix it, is a module configuration issue, is not intuitive at all, but is easy anyway.
In the DM6 module select the Midi mode pressing the "PATTERN" button, then press the "-" and "+" buttons in a way that you can see "--N" on the led screen, (kit off, voice off, pattern on) then snare pad must de mapped to D1, open hi-hat to A#0, crash to C#2 (no more A-0 :D).
I just tested EZ Drummer 2 and everything is correctly mapped. I hope it helps.

Wow that look like it might work thanks for the help I'm gonna try that out now.

Could you give more detailed instructions thought to help me make sure I'm doing everything right?
