I’m frustrated

Multimix 16 USB 2.0 detected on iMAC OSX 10.9 & 10.10 but it doesn't work.

I tried to install my multimix 16 USB 2 under iMAC 10.9 (and 10.10 now) with the new driver.
The device is detected well, and the windows Alesis appears with a status connected. But impossible to select this device.
The faders appear in grey (out and in).
I see 2 out channels and 18 input channels but all is grey or almost.
Excepted the output fader but when i try to increase this one, the volume returns to zero.
I reinstalled the driver twice, and nothing to do.

If you have any ideas how to fix this issue?

  • Hello,

Thanks for posting. I'd like to help. What are you using for a DAW? Keep in mind, the Multimix 16 USB 2.0 features 8 mic/line preamps, 4 stereo inputs. The Multichannel USB 2.0 input and output routes each individual channel’s output, plus the MAIN outputs, through the USB 2.0 port, and receives two channels back from the computer, all in 24-bit, 44.1/48/88.2/96 kHz digital audio format.

You must select the “Alesis USB Audio Device” via your Mac’s “Audio MIDI Setup” utility in order for your computer to route the MultiMix USB2.0’s signals into and out of your computer applications properly.

For more information on your Multimix 16 USB 2.0, review the reference manual from the link here - http://alesis.com/stuff/contentmgr/fi....

  • Hello.

At first, thanks for your reply.
Yes, i know the features of the multimix 16 usb2.
This one is used under Windows Seven 64bits with the same iMac and it works perfectly with CakeWalk Sonar X3e.
I can use it as audio card to.

But under OSX 10.9 or 10.10 now, the volume is in grey, and i can use it as an external audio card.

I'll try to make some screenshots later.

    Regards

    Franck

  • Hello

    I made some captures.

Here my device is connected well.

On top right, the audio is grey.

The volume for output channels cannot be changed. it stay on zero.

    Same for all input channels.

  • Hello danard,

Thank you for the very helpful images! As soon as you select the Alesis USB Audio Codec as your input or output device, you won't be able to adjust the volume from the your Mac Sound Settings. You'll have to use your DAW to adjust each channels settings. I've confirmed this on my Mac OS X 10.10.

  • Hi Chris.

I've never used a DAW with the MAC because i thought the audio device didn't work.

It's weird to not be able to use this one as a simple sound card like Windows is able to do it.
Under Windows i'm able to select the internal audio device or the USB Alesis device, and the sound of Windows are redirected to the multimix instead of the internal sound card.
Your handling is not so logic! :/

If you could improve this feature in a next version, it will be good. ;)

    Regards.
