Open And Closed Hi-Hats On A Single Pad Trigged By The HH Foot Switch

I want to be able to assign and open hi-hat on Wave A and a closed hi-hat on Wave B on the same pad, then have my hi hat foot switch trigger the closed hi hat wave when it's pressed down or open hit hat when it's up. I need to play a complete drum kit, so having more than one pad for both open and closed hi hats isn't ideal.

A current problem with the hi hat group: When using a closed hi hat on one pad and an open hi hat on a second pad with them both being in their own hi hat group, while depressing the hi hat pedal does switch to the closed hi hat sound, it does not mute the open hi hat sound - like happens with a real hi hat. However, if you switch the group to a mute group, hitting the close hi hat pad does mute the open hi hat pad. I hope an update will fix this issue. I think most users really only need an open and closed hi hat (on one pad) that works like a real hi hat for using the Strike Multipad as a stand-alone kit.

Ideally, combing the two on one pad for a hi hat: If wave A is a closed hit hat and Wave B is open hi hat, it would be great to be able to assign both waves to hi hat group (on any pad) that acts like a mute group when the hi hat pedal is in the down position.

  • Hello, Tracy

    Thanks for posting!

The assignment of Hi-Hat groups within one pad is a good idea! This would be a more economical way of assigning your pads :) I can definitely submit this feature request for you.

In regards to the Hi-Hat sound not muting when pressing down on the HH pedal, make sure to have a "Chick" sound assigned to the actual HH trigger. The open Hi-Hat sound will mute when you press down on the pedal along with a "Chick" sound just like an acoustic Hi-Hat would react.

In this example, I used the "13Fuse CS 4b" sample for the HH pedal.

    Hope this helps!

Criss, could you please confirm this feature was officially requested? I want to buy ASM but lack of o/c hh on single pad is not maybe deal breaker but considering it as a big limitation.
I have read few reviews and in many that was raised as an issue, so more people are waiting for it.

  • Hello, Piotr.palka76

    Thanks for posting!

This feature request has been submitted to our development team however, you may want to check out this forum thread that I just posted that shows a workaround so you have open-closed function on one RGB pad on the Strike Multipad :)
