I’m frustrated/disappointed

Poor sound from DM6 Hi Hat Pedal ? can it be improved ?

The sound volume generated form the foot pedal is very weak. Reading FAQ and youtube it would appear this is a common fault. Has any one found a cure ?

  • Hi David,

Thanks for posting. What do you mean when you say the volume is very weak? Can you provide me with some more information? Does this happen with other parts from the kit or if you switch cables? Have you tried to reset the kit yet? If not, please do the following and let me know how it goes.

Power it on, while holding the + and - buttons. This will restore the factory settings, erasing any recorded data or changed settings, including User Kits, the User Pattern, and any volume, metronome, or Voice settings, which will return to their defaults.

    Hi Bill
    Thanks for your reply.
I am convinced the fault lies with the footpedal and possibly the foot pedal trigger within the unit.
The hihats when sticked are at the volume required. You cannot hear the snap
of the hihat when the pedal is used even at max volume. Sometimes it will work and then only one snap and then back to mute.
I have connected a guitar pedal to the hihat connection and that works perfectly which re-inforces my view that the pedal is at fault. it isnt a particulary good piece of design IMO.
I will reset as you suggest and get back to you.

  • Yes, please try the reset and let me know how it goes. However, if you tried with another cable and the issue persists, it's likely the pedal itself is the culprit. Regardless, our Technical Support team can help you out with this. Log on to www.alesis.com/support to get in touch with your nearest Support Office. • I’m happy (so far ).
    Hi Bill
I believe I have resolved the problem.
I completely dismantled the pedal to find that the rubber striker tab was'nt lining up correctly with the adjustable striker. I managed to realign the 2 items and refix the
rubber tab with supaglue. Reassembled and all now works as it should.
Still think your technical/design guys should look at the design and construction of this pedal , its not great.
Thanks for your interest and help.
