Power Supply / AC Adaptor Failure

Good day

I purchased an Alesis Multimix8 USB FX mixer Brand New in the middle of this year (about 3-4months ago). Sunday 15October2014 being only the 7th time I wanted to use it, the mixer failed to switch on. When I took it to the dealer (who is a registered agent for the mixer), he tested it and found the AC adaptor defective. He then informed me not to worry as he is an agent and will have the adaptor replaced within the week. The cost will be about R500 or $50!
Is this not covered by the warranty?
It cannot be an external electrical fault as all my other devices such as my active speakers, laptop, wireless mic receivers, cellphone, etc (plugged into the same multiplug), were operating perfectly.
Kindly provide the Alesis policy with regard to my above dilemma. Is the adaptor not covered by the 1 year warranty?

    Thanks for posting. I'd like to help. Our Alesis products have a full 1 year warranty when purchased from an authorized Alesis dealer. The Alesis R500 utilizes a basic IEC cable that you can purchase at any local electronic store. Since you live in South Africa, make sure your IEC cable is 220/230 volts. If you've tried another IEC cable and the unit still doesn't power on then contact your international distributor for information on where to get your unit repaired from an authorized Alesis technician.

    Issue resolved. After I approached my dealer he conceded/acknowledged that it could be a problem with my AC adaptor, in particular. He has since provided a new adaptor as part of the warranty. I am quite pleased with the service I have received thus far.
